State Bank of India (SBI) research report

♦ According to the State Bank of India (SBI) research report, India's poverty rate is projected to decline to 4.6% in 2024. ♦ This marks a significant improvement from the 5.3 percent poverty rate estimated by the World Bank for India in 2023. ♦ The report highlighted that the country has made remarkable progress in reducing poverty, and its latest estimate shows a further fall from the World Bank's assessment. ♦ As a result, recorded consumption in national surveys have gone up, which in turn has lowered the estimated poverty levels. ♦ For instance, in 2011-12, using Modified Mixed Recall Period (MMRP) reduced India's poverty rate from 22.9 percent to 16.22 percent under the older USD 2.15 per day poverty line. ♦ In the 2022-23 survey, poverty stood at just 5.25 percent under the new hiked USD 3.00 per day poverty line, and even lower at 2.35 percent under the old USD 2.15 line.

♦ The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) released 2025 State of World Population (SOWP) report on 10 June 2025. ♦ According to this, India's population is estimated to reach 1.46 billion in 2025, continuing to be the highest in the world. ♦ This is also revealed the country's total fertility rate has fallen below the replacement rate. ♦ The report found that India's total fertility rate has declined to 1.9 births per woman, falling below the replacement level of 2.1. ♦ Despite the slowing birth rate, India's youth population remains significant, with 24 per cent in the age bracket of 0-14, 17 per cent in 10-19, and 26 per cent in 10-24. ♦ The country's 68 per cent of the population is of working age (15-64), providing a potential demographic dividend, if matched by adequate employment and policy support. ♦ The elderly population (65 and older) currently stands at seven percent, a figure that is expected to rise in the coming decades as life expectancy improves. ♦ As of 2025, life expectancy at birth is projected to be 71 years for men and 74 years for women. ♦ China with 1.41 billion population is the second most populous country after India.

♦ The World Bank kept India’s economic growth projection at 6.3 percent for FY 2025-26, as the country remains the fastest-growing economy globally. ♦ The global growth has been projected to slow to 2.3 percent in 2025, nearly half a percentage point lower than the rate that had been expected at the start of the year. ♦ The World Bank said these points in its latest Global Economic Prospects report. ♦ In January 2025, the World Bank had forecast India's growth projection for 2025-26 at 6.7 percent. ♦ World Bank expects China to grow at 4.5 percent in 2025 and 4 percent next year (2026).

తెలంగాణలో 2025, మే నెలాఖరు నాటికి రేషన్‌ లబ్ధిదారుల సంఖ్య 3,11,28,921గా ఉంది. 2025, జనవరి 26 నుంచి రాష్ట్రంలో కొత్త రేషన్‌కార్డుల మంజూరు ప్రక్రియ మొదలైంది. జనవరి 26, ఫిబ్రవరి 28, ఏప్రిల్‌ 24, మే నెల 23 తేదీల్లో నాలుగు విడతల్లో కొత్తగా 2,03,156 కార్డులు మంజూరుచేశారు. అలాగే తొమ్మిది విడతల్లో పాత కార్డుల్లో కొత్త సభ్యులుగా 29,81,356 మంది పేర్లను నమోదుచేశారు. 2025 జనవరి 1 నాటికి పాత కార్డుల వివరాలిలా.. కార్డుల రకం కార్డుల సంఖ్య లబ్ధిదారులు ఆహార భద్రత కార్డులు 54,66,844 1,91,69,600 రాష్ట్ర ఆహార భద్రత కార్డులు 35,28,438 89,77,965 మొత్తం 89,95,282 2,81,47,565

1000 మంది బాలురకు 907 మంది అమ్మాయిలు

తెలంగాణలో గత ఆరేళ్లలో ఎన్నడూలేనంత తక్కువగా 2022లో ప్రతి వెయ్యిమంది బాలురకు 907 మంది అమ్మాయిలు మాత్రమే జన్మించారు. ఈ మేరకు బాలురు, బాలికల జననాల నిష్పత్తి జాబితాలో తెలంగాణ దేశంలో దిగువ నుంచి మూడో స్థానంలో ఉంది. తెలంగాణ తర్వాత బిహార్‌ (891), మహారాష్ట్ర (906)లు మాత్రమే ఉన్నాయి. ఏపీలో ఇది 938గా నమోదైంది. ఈ మేరకు దేశవ్యాప్తంగా 2022లో జనన, మరణాల నివేదికను కేంద్ర జనాభా లెక్కల విభాగం తాజాగా విడుదల చేసింది. నివేదికలోని ముఖ్యాంశాలు: 2022లో రాష్ట్రాలు, కేంద్రపాలిత ప్రాంతాల్లో బాలురు కంటే బాలికల జననాలు ఎక్కువగా ఉన్నవి మూడు మాత్రమే. ఈ మేరకు ప్రతి వెయ్యి మంది బాలురకు.. అత్యధికంగా నాగాలాండ్‌లో 1,068 మంది, అరుణాచల్‌ప్రదేశ్‌లో 1,036, లద్దాఖ్‌లో 1,027 మంది బాలికలు జన్మించారు. దేశంలో 2021తో పోలిస్తే 2022లో మరణాలు 102 లక్షల నుంచి 86.5 లక్షలకు తగ్గాయి. తెలంగాణ, ఈశాన్య రాష్ట్రాల్లో మాత్రం ముందు సంవత్సరం కంటే పెరిగాయి.

2025-26లో భారత వృద్ధి 6.3%

దేశ వృద్ధి రేటు 2025-26లో 6.3 శాతంగా నమోదు కావొచ్చని ప్రపంచబ్యాంక్‌ అంచనా వేసింది. అంతర్జాతీయ అనిశ్చితుల నేపథ్యంలో ఎగుమతులపై ఒత్తిడి పడే అవకాశం ఉన్నా, ప్రపంచంలోనే అత్యంత వేగంగా వృద్ధి చెందుతున్న పెద్ద ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థగా భారత్‌ నిలుస్తుందని బ్యాంక్‌ తెలిపింది. 6.7% వృద్ధిరేటు లభించొచ్చని 2025, జనవరిలో అంచనా వేసిన ప్రపంచ బ్యాంక్, ఏప్రిల్‌లో దాన్ని 6.3 శాతానికి కుదించింది. తాజాగా రూపొందించిన ‘గ్లోబల్‌ ఎకనమిక్‌ ప్రాస్పెక్టస్‌’ నివేదికలోనూ అదే స్థాయి వద్ద ఉంచింది. 2026-27లో భారత వృద్ధి రేటు 6.5 శాతంగా నమోదు కావొచ్చని పేర్కొంది.

మనదేశంలో అత్యంత పేదరికం బాగా తగ్గినట్లు ఎస్‌బీఐ రిసెర్చ్‌ తాజా నివేదిక 2025, జూన్‌ 10న వెల్లడించింది. 2023లో దేశంలో అత్యంత పేదలు 6.35 శాతంగా ఉండగా, 2024లో 4.6 శాతానికి పరిమితమైనట్లు వివరించింది. ప్రపంచ బ్యాంకు కూడా ఇటీవల ఇదే విషయాన్ని స్పష్టం చేసింది. ప్రపంచ బ్యాంకు లెక్కల ప్రకారం 2023లో మనదేశంలో అత్యంత పేదలు 5.2 శాతం మంది ఉన్నారు. గతంలో అయితే రోజుకు 2 డాలర్ల ఆదాయానికి దిగువున ఉన్న వారిని నిరుపేదలుగా పరిగణించేవారు. తరవాత ఈ పరిమితిని రోజుకు 3 డాలర్ల (సుమారు రూ.257)కు ప్రపంచ బ్యాంకు సవరించింది. కొత్త నిర్వచనం ప్రకారం కూడా మనదేశంలో అత్యంత పేదల సంఖ్య బాగా తగ్గుతోంది.

ప్రపంచ జనాభా స్థితి నివేదిక

భారత జనాభా 146 కోట్లు దాటినట్లు ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి తన ‘ప్రపంచ జనాభా స్థితి నివేదిక’తో తెలిపింది. అయితే జనాభాను ఇదే స్థాయిలో కొనసాగించడానికి అవసరమైన జననాల పెరుగుదల (రిప్లేస్‌మెంట్‌) కంటే దేశంలో జననాలు తక్కువగా ఉన్నాయని తెలిపింది. జనాభా పొందికలో, సంతాన సాఫల్యంలో, ప్రజల ఆయుర్దాయంలో వస్తున్న మార్పుల్ని ఇందులో విశ్లేషించింది. దేశంలో జననాల రేటు సరాసరిన ప్రతి మహిళకు 1.9కి పడిపోయిందని, జనాభా పెరుగుదలను ఇప్పటి స్థాయిలోనే కొనసాగించేందుకు అవసరమైన పెరుగుదల పడిపోయిందని నివేదిక పేర్కొంది. అంటే ఒక తరంలో ఉన్న జనాభా సంఖ్య తదుపరి తరానికి తగ్గిపోతుందన్న మాట.
