PM Vidyalaxmi scheme

♦ The Union Cabinet has approved the PM Vidyalaxmi scheme on 6 November 2024. This program designed to give financial aid to deserving students so that no one is prevented from pursuing higher education by financial limitations.  ♦ As per the scheme, anybody who gets admission to Quality Higher Education Institutions (QHEIs) will be eligible to get collateral-free, guarantor-free loans from banks and financial institutions to cover the full amount of tuition fees and other expenses related to the course. ♦ An outlay of Rs.3,600 crore has been approved for the scheme under which education loans will be facilitated to students securing admissions in the top 860 QHEIs of the country based on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). This will cover more than 22 lakh students every year.

♦ Republican party leader Donald Trump was elected the 47th President of the United States. He defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the presidential election and was re-elected for a second term.   ♦ He is only the second president to serve non-consecutive terms after Grover Cleveland, a feat that was last accomplished 132 years ago. ♦ Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and 24th President of the US, serving from 1885 to 1889 and from 1893 to 1897. Trump's first term as US President was between 2016 and 2020. ♦ JD Vance will become America’s next Vice-President. His wife Usha Chilukuri Vance is an Indian-American.

జలజ్‌ సక్సేనా రికార్డు

కేరళ ఆల్‌రౌండర్‌ జలజ్‌ సక్సేనా (37) 90 ఏళ్ల రంజీ ట్రోఫీ చరిత్రలో 6000 పరుగులు, 400 వికెట్లు సాధించిన తొలి ఆటగాడిగా ఘనత సాధించాడు. ఉత్తర్‌ ప్రదేశ్‌తో ఎలైట్‌ గ్రూప్‌-సి మ్యాచ్‌ సందర్భంగా జలజ్‌ 400 వికెట్ల మైలురాయిని అందుకున్నాడు. కేరళ గత మ్యాచ్‌ (బెంగాల్‌తో) సందర్భంగా అతడు 6000 పరుగులు పూర్తి చేశాడు.

‘పీఎం-విద్యాలక్ష్మి’ పథకం

ప్రతిభావంతులైన విద్యార్థులు ‘నాణ్యమైన ఉన్నత విద్యాసంస్థల్లో’ (క్వాలిటీ హయ్యర్‌ ఎడ్యుకేషన్‌ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూషన్స్‌- క్యూహెచ్‌ఈఐల్లో) ప్రవేశాలు పొందడానికి అవసరమైన ఆర్థికసాయం అందించే ‘పీఎం-విద్యాలక్ష్మి’ పథకాన్ని కేంద్ర మంత్రివర్గం 2024, నవంబరు 6న ఆమోదించింది. దీనికోసం 2024-25 నుంచి 2030-31 మధ్య రూ.3,600 కోట్లు కేటాయించడానికి సమ్మతించింది.  ఎలాంటి పూచీకత్తు, హామీదారులు అవసరం లేకుండానే బ్యాంకులు, ఆర్థిక సంస్థల నుంచి రుణాలు పొందవచ్చు. ఏటా దాదాపు 22 లక్షల మంది విద్యార్థులు ఈ మేరకు ప్రయోజనం పొందవచ్చు.

అమెరికా అధ్యక్షుడిగా ట్రంప్‌

అమెరికా అధ్యక్ష ఎన్నికల్లో రిపబ్లికన్‌ పార్టీ నేత డొనాల్డ్‌ ట్రంప్‌ (78) విజయం సాధించారు. నాలుగేళ్ల తర్వాత మళ్లీ ఆయన అమెరికా అధ్యక్షుడిగా ఎన్నికయ్యారు. డెమోక్రటిక్‌ పార్టీ అభ్యర్థి, భారతీయ అమెరికన్‌ కమలా హారిస్‌ ఈ ఎన్నికలో ట్రంప్‌ చేతిలో ఓడారు.  రిపబ్లికన్‌ పార్టీకి చెందిన జేడీ వాన్స్‌ అమెరికా నూతన ఉపాధ్యక్షుడిగా పనిచేయనున్నారు. ఆయన భార్య, అమెరికాకు సెకండ్‌ లేడీగా వ్యవహరించబోతున్న ఉష చిలుకూరి తెలుగు సంతతి మహిళ. ఉష పూర్వీకులది కృష్ణా జిల్లా ఉయ్యూరు మండలం సాయిపురం. గెలిచిన భారతీయ అమెరికన్లు.. అమెరికా అధ్యక్ష ఎన్నికల్లో ప్రతినిధుల సభకు ఆరుగురు భారతీయ అమెరికన్లు ఎన్నికయ్యారు. గత కాంగ్రెస్‌లో అయిదుగురు భారతీయ అమెరికన్‌ సభ్యులు ఉండగా, ఈ సారి ఆ సంఖ్య 6గా ఉండనుంది.  శ్రీ తానేదార్, రాజా కృష్ణమూర్తి, రో ఖన్నా, డాక్టర్‌ అమిబెరా, ప్రమీలా జయపాల్‌ మరోసారి విజయం దక్కించుకున్నారు. వారితో పాటు భారతీయ అమెరికన్‌ న్యాయవాది అయిన సుహాస్‌ సుబ్రహ్మణ్యం వర్జీనియా 10వ కాంగ్రెషనల్‌ డిస్ట్రిక్ట్‌ నుంచి విజయం సాధించారు. వర్జీనియా నుంచే కాక అమెరికాలోని తూర్పుతీర ప్రాంతం నుంచి ప్రతినిధుల సభకు ఎన్నికైన తొలి భారతీయ అమెరికన్‌గా చరిత్ర సృష్టించారు.
