అమెరికా అధ్యక్ష ఎన్నికల్లో విజయం సాధించిన డొనాల్డ్‌ ట్రంప్‌ వైద్య పరిశోధనలను పర్యవేక్షించే నేషనల్‌ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్‌ ఆఫ్‌ హెల్త్‌ (ఎన్‌ఐహెచ్‌)కు తదుపరి డైరెక్టరుగా భారతీయ మూలాలున్న జై భట్టాచార్యను నియమించారు. 1968లో కలకత్తాలో పుట్టిన జై భట్టాచార్య 1997లో స్టాన్‌ఫర్డ్‌ యూనివర్సిటీ స్కూల్‌ ఆఫ్‌ మెడిసిన్‌ నుంచి డాక్టరేటు అందుకున్నారు. మళ్లీ అదే విశ్వవిద్యాలయం నుంచి ఆర్థికశాస్త్రంలో పీహెచ్‌డీ చేశారు. స్టాన్‌ఫర్డ్‌ యూనివర్సిటీలో హెల్త్‌ పాలసీ ప్రొఫెసర్‌గా, నేషనల్‌ బ్యూరో ఆఫ్‌ ఎకనామిక్స్‌ రీసెర్చ్‌లో రీసెర్చ్‌ అసోసియేట్‌గా విధులు నిర్వహించారు.
