Amulya

♦ The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Ship ‘Amulya’ was commissioned at Goa Shipyard Limited, Vasco, Goa on 19 December 2025. This is the third vessel in the new-generation Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV). The 51-metre FPV powered by two 3000 kW advanced diesel engines, was designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). ♦ The vessel Amulya is capable of delivering a top speed of 27 knots and an operational endurance of 1500 nautical miles, enabling extended missions in India's maritime zones. The ship is armed with a 30 mm CRN-91 gun and two 12.7 mm Stabilized Remote-Controlled Guns, supported by advanced target acquisition and fire-control systems. ♦ The vessel will be based at Paradip, Odisha, operating under the administrative and operational control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (North East) through the Commander, Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 7.

Barham Salih

♦ Former Iraqi President Barham Salih was elected as the next head of the U.N. refugee agency, its first from the Middle East since the late 1970s. The United Nations General Assembly announced this on 19 December 2025. ♦ The 193-member world body elected the Kurdish politician as the U.N. high commissioner for refugees by consensus and a bang of the gavel by Assembly President Annalena Baerbock. ♦ At the age of 19 in 1979, Salih was reportedly arrested twice by Saddam Hussein’s Baath Party on charges of involvement in the Kurdish national movement and spent 43 days in detention. When he was released, he finished high school and fled to the United Kingdom to avoid further persecution. ♦ After Saddam was ousted by a U.S.-led coalition in 2003, Salih returned to Iraq and held various posts in the government. He became Iraq’s president in 2018, in the immediate aftermath of the Islamic State group’s rampage across Iraq and the battle to take back the territory seized by the extremist group. He served until 2022. ♦ Salih succeeds longtime agency veteran Filippo Grandi, whose second five-year term expires Dec. 31. Salih’s five-year term starts Jan. 1.

26th National Conference

♦ President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the 26th National Conference for the Chairpersons of Public Service Commissions (PSC) in Hyderabad on 19 December 2025. Organised by the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC), the two-day conference aims to bring together the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and State PSCs as a premier national platform for dialogue, institutional introspection and cooperative reforms. ♦ Speaking on the occasion, President Murmu emphasised the critical role of Public Service Commissions in the governance framework of India. ♦ The conference concludes on 20 December 2025

2025, డిసెంబరు 21 నాటికి ఎలాన్‌ మస్క్‌ సంపద విలువ 749 బి.డాలర్ల (రూ.67.41 లక్షల కోట్ల)కు చేరింది. ప్రపంచంలోనే తొలిసారిగా 700 బి.డాలర్లకు పైగా నికర సంపద కలిగిన వ్యక్తిగా మస్క్‌ రికార్డు సాధించారు. డెలావేర్‌ సుప్రీంకోర్టు 139 బిలియన్‌ డాలర్ల (రూ.12.51 లక్షల కోట్ల) విలువైన టెస్లా స్టాక్‌ ఆప్షన్లను పునరుద్ధరించడంతో పాటు, 2018లో ఎలాన్‌ మస్క్‌కు ప్రకటించిన 55 బి.డాలర్ల (రూ.4.95 లక్షల కోట్ల) వేతన ప్యాకేజీకి అనుకూలంగా తీర్పు వెలువరించడంతో ఇది సాధ్యమైంది. మన దేశంలోని 4 అతి పెద్ద నమోదిత కంపెనీల మార్కెట్‌ విలువను కలిపినా, మస్క్‌ సంపద విలువే అధికం. గూగుల్‌ సహ వ్యవస్థాపకుడు లారీ పేజ్‌ ప్రపంచంలోనే రెండో అత్యంత సంపన్నుడిగా (సుమారు 500 బి.డాలర్లు-రూ.45 లక్షల కోట్లు) ఉన్నారు.

జెమ్‌

ప్రభుత్వరంగ సంస్థలకు అవసరమైన సేవలు, వస్తు సామగ్రి ని సమీకరించేందుకు నిర్వహిస్తున్న ది గవర్నమెంట్‌ ఇ-మార్కెట్‌ ప్లేస్‌ (జెమ్‌) ద్వారా ఇప్పటివరకు 11.25 లక్షలకు పైగా ఎంఎస్‌ఈ (సూక్ష్మ, చిన్న సంస్థ)లకు రూ.7.44 లక్షల కోట్లకు పైగా విలువైన ఆర్డర్లు లభించాయి. వాణిజ్య - పరిశ్రమల శాఖ ఈ విషయాన్ని వెల్లడించింది. జెమ్‌ సమీకరించే ఉత్పత్తుల్లో, ఎంఎస్‌ఈల వాటా 25% తప్పనిసరిగా ఉండాలని ప్రభుత్వం నిర్దేశించగా, అంతకుమించి ఈ సంస్థల నుంచి సమీకరణ గత నెలకే 44.8 శాతానికి చేరింది.

ఆసియాలో మొదటి రేడియో సేవలకు 100 ఏళ్లు

భారతదేశంలో ఒకప్పుడు రేడియో సిలోన్‌గా గుర్తింపు పొందిన శ్రీలంకలోని రేడియో సర్వీసు 100 సంవత్సరాలు పూర్తి చేసుకుంది. శ్రీలంక ప్రభుత్వ రికార్డుల ప్రకారం ఆసియాలోని షార్ట్‌ వేవ్‌ స్టేషన్లలో ఇది మొదటిది. హిందీ పాటల వీక్లీ కౌంట్‌డౌన్‌ షో అయిన బినాకా గీతమాలను ఈ రేడియో ప్రాచుర్యంలోకి తెచ్చింది. ఈ రేడియో ఆసియాలోనే అతి పెద్ద రికార్డెడ్‌ పాటల లైబ్రరీని కలిగి ఉందని శ్రీలంక బ్రాడ్‌కాస్టింగ్‌ కార్పొరేషన్‌ (ఎస్‌ఎల్‌బీసీ) తెలిపింది.

‘శాంతి’ బిల్లుకు రాష్ట్రపతి ఆమోదం

అణు రంగంలో ప్రైవేటు పెట్టుబడులను ప్రోత్సహించేందుకు వీలుగా తీసుకొచ్చిన సస్టెయినబుల్‌ హార్నెస్సింగ్‌ అండ్‌ అడ్వాన్స్‌మెంట్‌ ఆఫ్‌ న్యూక్లియర్‌ ఎనర్జీ ఫర్‌ ట్రాన్స్‌ఫార్మింగ్‌ ఇండియా (శాంతి) బిల్లుకు రాష్ట్రపతి ఆమోదం లభించింది. ఇటీవల పార్లమెంటులో నెగ్గిన ఈ బిల్లుకు రాష్ట్రపతి ద్రౌపదీ ముర్ము ఆమోదం తెలిపారని 2025, డిసెంబరు 21న ప్రభుత్వ నోటిఫికేషన్‌ వెల్లడించింది. పౌర అణు రంగానికి సంబంధించిన అన్ని చట్టాలను ఇది డీల్‌ చేయడంతోపాటు ప్రైవేటు రంగాన్ని ప్రోత్సహించనుంది. కొత్త చట్టం రాకతో ద ఆటమిక్‌ ఎనర్జీ చట్టం-1962, సివిల్‌ లయబిలిటీ ఫర్‌ న్యూక్లియర్‌ డ్యామేజీ చట్టం-2010 రద్దవుతాయి.

వీబీ-జీ రాం జీ బిల్లుకు చట్టరూపం

మహాత్మా గాంధీ జాతీయ గ్రామీణ ఉపాధి హామీ పథకం స్థానంలో మోదీ ప్రభుత్వం కొత్తగా తీసుకొచ్చిన వికసిత భారత్‌- గ్యారంటీ ఫర్‌ రోజ్‌గార్‌ అండ్‌ ఆజీవికా మిషన్‌ (గ్రామీణ్‌) (వీబీ-జీ రాం జీ) బిల్లు చట్టంగా మారింది. పార్లమెంటు ఉభయ సభల ఆమోదం పొందిన ఈ బిల్లుకు 2025, డిసెంబరు 21న రాష్ట్రపతి ద్రౌపదీ ముర్ము ఆమోద ముద్ర వేసినట్లు కేంద్ర గ్రామీణాభివృద్ధిశాఖ ప్రకటించింది. దీనిద్వారా ప్రతి ఏటా గ్రామీణ ప్రాంతాల్లోని కూలీలకు 125 పని దినాలకు హామీ లభిస్తుంది. వ్యవసాయ పనులకు కూలీల కొరత ఎదురుకాకుండా చూడటానికి విత్తనాలు, నూర్పిళ్లు ఎక్కువగా ఉండే 60 రోజులపాటు ఈ పథకాన్ని నిలిపేస్తారు. కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం నోటిఫై చేసిన తేదీ నుంచి ఈ చట్టం అమల్లోకి వస్తుంది. దీనికింద చేపట్టే పనుల ప్రణాళిక, పర్యవేక్షణ అంతా గ్రామ పంచాయతీల ద్వారానే జరుగుతుంది. ఇందులో ప్రధానంగా నాలుగు రకాల పనులకే వీలు కల్పిస్తారు.
