♦ Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal launched Logistics Data Bank (LDB) 2.0 in New Delhi, advancing India’s journey toward a digitally empowered, investment-ready, and export-competitive economy. ♦ LDB 2.0 will provide critical insights into the availability of facilities and infrastructure across the logistics ecosystem. ♦ The system will enable real-time tracking and assessment of logistics performance, supporting better planning, higher efficiency, and cost reduction.  ♦ Developed by NICDC Logistics Data Services (NLDSL), LDB 2.0 is a significantly enhanced logistics tracking platform that enables export container tracking on high seas along with multi-modal shipment visibility.

Leaders of the African Union

♦ Leaders of the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) met at the UN Headquarters in New York. ♦ The three organisations reiterating support for multilateralism as the most effective way to address today’s challenges, condemned the rising number of instances of lack of respect for international law, international humanitarian law and human rights law, and stressed the importance of adherence to the UN Charter.  ♦ They discussed peace efforts in Africa, including the imperative to end the war in Sudan and also discussed measures to strengthen the fight against terrorist armed groups and to promote reconciliation and development in the Sahel. ♦ The three organisations affirmed their support for the UN roadmap to revive the political process in Libya. ♦ The three organisations agreed to reconvene in 2026, on the margins of the next session of the UN General Assembly.

Anandkumar Velkumar

♦ India’s Anandkumar Velkumar clinched gold in the men’s 42km marathon and made history at the 2025 World Speed Skating Championships in China on 21 September 2025. ♦ He won two golds and a bronze. It is his third medal at the ongoing event. ♦ Anandkumar became India’s first-ever speed skating world champion just days after taking gold in the 1000m with a record time of 1:24.92 and bronze in the 500m sprint.   ♦ His international breakthrough came in 2021 with a silver at the Junior World Championships a first for India followed by a bronze at the World Games earlier this year (2025).

Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited

♦ Oil India Limited (OIL) has signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) for developing 1.2 GW of renewable energy projects in Rajasthan. ♦ The signed projects include 1000 MW of solar power and 200 MW of wind power capacity to be established within RVUNL’s Renewable Energy Park. ♦ The formed joint venture company will harness OIL’s energy sector expertise and RVUNL’s extensive experience in power project development to deliver sustainable energy solutions.

Women Self-Help Group

♦ Tamil Nadu became the first state in India to issue identity cards to Women Self-Help Group (SHG) members, marking a significant milestone in the empowerment of women at the grassroots level. ♦ The initiative was officially launched by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin at Karuppur in Salem district, along with the distribution of Rs.3,500 crore in loans to SHGs. ♦ This move strengthens the institutional support for over five lakh SHGs operating in the state and enhances their access to both financial and social benefits.

♦ Government headhunter Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended B Sairam as the next Chairman of coal behemoth CIL on 20 September 2025. ♦ Currently, he is the Chairman & Managing Director of Northern Coalfields (NCL). ♦ NCL is a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL). ♦ Currently, P M Prasad is holding the position of Chairman and Managing Director in CIL. ♦ His tenure is ending on 31 October 2025. ♦ Coal India which accounts for over 80 percent of domestic coal output is targeting coal production of 875 million tonnes in 2025-26, with a dispatch target of 900 MT, to meet rising energy demands.
