Organ donation and transplantation.

♦ The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has stated that India has achieved a significant milestone in the field of organ donation and transplantation. ♦ The National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) has recorded unprecedented progress in organ donation, allocation, and transplantation across the country. ♦ The number of transplants in the country has increased from fewer than 5,000 in 2013 to nearly 20,000 in 2025, marking a remarkable fourfold rise. ♦ The Ministry added that around 18 percent of transplants are currently being performed using organs donated by deceased donors. ♦ The Ministry further stated that more than 1,200 families came forward to donate the organs of their loved ones after death in 2025, and each donor is now a multi-organ donor, transforming many lives.

♦ India and Brazil signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the postal sector, marking a significant step towards strengthening bilateral collaboration in postal services. ♦ The MoU was signed by Minister of Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Minister of Communications of Brazil, Frederico de Siqueira Filho, during his state visit to India.  ♦ The Ministry of Communications informed that the MoU will remain in force for an initial period of five years, with provision for automatic renewal. ♦ The Ministry further said, the partnership will be executed through exchange visits of officials and experts, joint workshops and structured information sharing between the two sides.

RBI secure data center in Odisha

♦ The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has established a high-security data centre in Odisha as part of its strategy to safeguard critical financial infrastructure. ♦ The new facility is strategically located away from cross-border threat zones and high seismic-risk regions, reinforcing the central bank’s commitment to operational continuity and systemic resilience.  ♦ This marks RBI’s second major data centre, with its Primary Data Centre currently situated in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. ♦ The new greenfield facility, spread across 18.55 acres at Info Valley-II, Khordha, will host the central bank’s core computing infrastructure, supporting currency management, payment and settlement systems, and regulatory data functions.

♦ Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat Train at Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on 22 February 2026. ♦ He dedicated to the Nation entire 82 Km Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor and inaugurated the remaining sections of India’s first Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). ♦ With a design speed of 180 km per hour, Namo Bharat is India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System connecting major urban centres such as Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Meerut with Delhi at a faster pace. ♦ Later, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated and dedicated to the nation various development projects worth around 12,930 crore rupees in Meerut.

♦The Punjab govt's power department has appointed Harsharan Kaur Trehan as the new Director (commercial) of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for a tenure of two years. ♦ She became the first woman director in PSPCL's history. ♦ Trehan has been serving in the power sector for over 35 years.  ♦ Earlier, in May 2021, she had become the first woman Engineer-in-Chief in PSPCL, heading the Material Management wing. ♦ She retired in October 2022 from that position.
