Alok Aradhe

♦ Justice Alok Aradhe was officially sworn in as the 48th Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court at Raj Bhawan in Mumbai on 21 January 2025. ♦ Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath to Justice Alok Aradhe. Justice Aradhe succeeds Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya. ♦ Justice Aradhe became the Chief Justice of Telangana HC, on July 23 2023, was first appointed the additional judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in December 2009. ♦ He was transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir HC in September, 2016, where he served until November, 2018. He also briefly served as an acting chief justice there. ♦ Justice Aradhe also served as Karnataka High Court judge from November, 2018 to July, 2023. He also served as its acting chief justice from July 3, 2022 to October 14, 2022. He has a tenure as a High Court judge until April 2026.

Edelman Trust Barometer

♦ India has fallen to third place in the annual Edelman Trust Barometer 2025 rankings, which ranks trust in government, businesses, media, and NGOs. China and Indonesia got first and second places respectively. In 2024 India ranked second. ♦ The annual Edelman Trust Barometer, now in its 25th year, released before the start of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, also showed that India ranks low at 13th place when it comes to trust of people in other countries, in companies with Indian headquarters. ♦ The survey, which included responses from over 33,000 people across 28 countries, also highlighted a global trend of growing grievances.

♦ Sanjiv Ranjan Appointed as Secretary General of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). He is an Indian Foreign Service Officer of 1993 batch. ♦ The Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) is an inter-governmental organisation formed in 1997 to foster regional economic cooperation. ♦ IORA has evolved into the peak regional group spanning the Indian Ocean. The IORA Secretariat is based in Mauritius and is headed by a fixed-term Secretary-General.

♦ Alok Kumar Agarwal was appointed as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Zurich Kotak General Insurance company. He succeeded Suresh Agarwal.  ♦ Alok Kumar brings over two decades of experience from ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company, where he held multiple leadership roles across corporate, SME, crop, and retail business segments during his 22-year tenure. ♦ The development follows Zurich Insurance Group's strategic acquisition of a majority stake in Kotak Mahindra General Insurance Company in June 2024.

♦ Florida Senator Marco Rubio was sworn in as the next U.S. Secretary of State on 21 January 2025. ♦ The Senate confirmed his appointment, making him the first member of Trump’s cabinet to receive Congressional approval. ♦ Rubio has years of experience serving on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. ♦ He is now overseeing more than 70,000 federal employees working for the U.S. Department of State.

అమెరికా నూతన విదేశాంగ మంత్రిగా మార్కో రుబియో 2025, జనవరి 21న ప్రమాణం చేశారు. అధ్యక్షుడు ట్రంప్‌ క్యాబినెట్‌లో బాధ్యతలు చేపట్టిన తొలి మంత్రిగా నిలిచారు. అమెరికా ప్రయోజనాల పరిరక్షణ, దేశాన్ని మరింత బలోపేతం చేయడం, సురక్షితంగా తీర్చిదిద్దడమే ట్రంప్‌ ప్రభుత్వ ప్రధాన కర్తవ్యమని ఈ సందర్భంగా మార్కో రుబియో తెలిపారు.

బాంబే హైకోర్టు సీజేగా జస్టిస్‌ ఆలోక్‌ అరాధే

తెలంగాణ హైకోర్టునుంచి బదిలీ అయిన ప్రధాన న్యాయమూర్తి జస్టిస్‌ ఆలోక్‌ అరాధే 2025, జనవరి 21న బాంబే హైకోర్టు సీజేగా ప్రమాణం చేశారు. ముంబయిలోని రాజ్‌భవన్‌ దర్బార్‌ హాలులో నిర్వహించిన కార్యక్రమంలో మహారాష్ట్ర గవర్నర్‌ సి.పి.రాధాకృష్ణన్‌ ఆయనతో ప్రమాణం చేయించారు.  జస్టిస్‌ అరాధే 2023 జులై 19న తెలంగాణ హైకోర్టు ప్రధాన న్యాయమూర్తిగా నియమితులయ్యారు. జులై 23న పదవీ ప్రమాణంచేసి బాధ్యతలు చేపట్టారు.

ఐటీ సేవల విభాగంలో అత్యంత విలువైన 25 బ్రాండ్ల జాబితాలో దేశీయ ఐటీ దిగ్గజాలు టీసీఎస్, ఇన్ఫోసిస్, హెచ్‌సీఎల్‌ టెక్నాలజీస్, విప్రో, టెక్‌ మహీంద్రా, ఎల్‌టీఐ మైండ్‌ట్రీ, హెగ్జావేర్‌ టెక్‌లకు చోటు లభించింది. బ్రాండ్‌ ఫైనాన్స్‌ ఈ జాబితాను రూపొందించింది. ఐటీ సేవల కంపెనీల బ్రాండ్ల మొత్తం విలువలో అమెరికా వాటా 40% కాగా,  36% వాటాతో మన దేశం రెండో స్థానంలో నిలిచింది. భారత్‌కు చెందిన ఐటీ కంపెనీల బ్రాండ్ల విలువ మొత్తంగా 14% పెరగడం ఇందుకు దోహదం చేసింది.

భారత దేశానికి వెలుపల రాణిస్తున్న భారతీయ సంతతి వ్యక్తుల జాబితాలో మైక్రోసాఫ్ట్‌ ఛైర్మన్, సీఈఓ సత్య నాదెళ్ల అగ్రస్థానంలో నిలిచారు. ఆ తర్వాతి స్థానంలో సుందర్‌ పిచాయ్, నీల్‌ మోహన్‌ తదితరులున్నారు. తొలిసారిగా రూపొందించిన హెచ్‌ఎస్‌బీసీ హురున్‌ గ్లోబల్‌ ఇండియన్స్‌ లిస్ట్‌-2024 ఈ విషయాలను వెల్లడించింది. ప్రపంచంలో భారతీయ మూలాలున్న వ్యక్తుల ఆధ్వర్యంలో నడుస్తున్న అగ్రగామి 200 కంపెనీల జాబితాను హురున్‌ ప్రకటించింది. కనీసం 1 బిలియన్‌ డాలర్ల (రూ.8600 కోట్లకు పైగా) మార్కెట్‌ విలువ ఉన్న కంపెనీలను ఇందుకు పరిగణనలోకి తీసుకుంది.  ఈ కంపెనీలన్నిటి మార్కెట్‌ విలువ కలిపితే 10 లక్షల కోట్ల డాలర్లకు దరిదాపుల్లో నిలిచింది. ఈ 200 సంస్థలకు 226 మంది సీఈఓలు, ఎండీలు, వ్యవస్థాపకులు ఉన్నారు. వీరంతా భారత్‌ వెలుపల ఉన్న భారతీయ సంతతి వ్యక్తులే.
