హైదరాబాద్‌ రాజేంద్రనగర్‌లోని నేషనల్‌ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్‌ ఆఫ్‌ రూరల్‌ డెవలప్‌మెంట్ అండ్‌ పంచాయతీరాజ్ (ఎన్‌ఐఆర్‌డీపీఆర్‌) పోస్ట్‌ గ్రాడ్యుయేట్‌ డిప్లొమా ఇన్‌  రూరల్‌ డెవెలప్‌మెంట్‌ మేనేజ్‌మెంట్‌ (పీజీడీఆర్‌డీఎం) ప్రోగ్రాంలో ప్రవేశాలకు దరఖాస్తులను కోరుతోంది. వివరాలు: పోస్ట్‌ గ్రాడ్యుయేట్‌ డిప్లొమా ఇన్‌  రూరల్‌ డెవెలప్‌మెంట్‌ మేనేజ్‌మెంట్‌ (పీజీడీఆర్‌డీఎం) 2025-26 ప్రోగ్రామ్‌ వ్యవది: 1 సంవత్సరం అర్హత: కనీసం 50 శాతం మార్కులతో గ్రాడ్యుయేషన్‌ ఉత్తీర్ణత లేదా తత్సమాన విద్యార్హత ఉండాలి. చివరి సంవత్సరం చదువుతున్న విద్యార్థులు కూడా దరఖాస్తు చేసుకోవచ్చు. ఎంపిక ప్రక్రియ: డిగ్రీలో పొందిన మార్కుల ఆధారంగా షార్ట్‌లిస్ట్‌ చేసిన అభ్యర్థులను గ్రూప్‌ డిస్కషన్‌, ఇంటర్వ్యూల ద్వారా ఎంపిక చేస్తారు. దరఖాస్తు ఫీజు: రూ.400 (ఎస్సీ/ ఎస్టీ/ పీడబ్ల్యూడీ/ ఈడబ్ల్యూఎస్‌ వారికి రూ.200) ఆన్‌లైన్‌ దరఖాస్తులకు చివరి తేదీ: 15-04-2025. Legal Metrology (Indian Standard Time) Rules, 2024

♦ In a move to standardise timekeeping, the government has drafted comprehensive rules mandating the exclusive use of Indian Standard Time (IST) across all official and commercial platforms, with the Consumer Affairs Ministry seeking public feedback by February 14, 2025. ♦ The Legal Metrology (Indian Standard Time) Rules, 2024, aims to establish a legal framework for standardising timekeeping practices, mandating IST as the sole time reference for legal, administrative, commercial, and official documents.

Gallantry awards to 93 Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel

♦  President Droupadi Murmu has approved Gallantry awards to 93 Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel, including 11 posthumous, on the eve of 76th Republic Day. These include two Kirti Chakras, including one posthumous, 14 Shaurya Chakras, including three posthumous, one Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry), 66 Sena Medals, including seven posthumous, two Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) and eight Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry). ♦  Kirti Chakra has been awarded to Major Manjit and Naik Dilwar Khan(posthumous). Kirti Chakra is awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice away from the field of battle.

Nation is celebrating the 76th Republic Day

♦ The Nation is celebrating the 76th Republic Day on 26 January 2025. President Droupadi Murmu led the Nation in celebrating the Republic Day from Kartavya Path in New Delhi.  ♦  President Droupadi Murmu arrived at Kartavya Path in a ceremonial buggy with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who was the Chief Guest at the parade.  ♦  The parade was heralded by 300 cultural artists playing ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’ with musical instruments of different parts of the country. Showering of flower petals was carried out by Mi-17 1V helicopters from 129 Helicopter Unit in the Dhwaj Formation.

Jannik Sinner clinched his second-straight Australian Open

♦ Jannik Sinner clinched his second-straight Australian Open men's singles title on 26 January 2025. He defeated Germany's Alexander Zverev with 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3 in the final.  ♦ It was Sinner's third Grand Slam title and second in succession, following his US Open victory last year (2024). The 23-year-old also became the first Italian to win three Grand Slams. Sinner is the youngest man to leave Melbourne Park with the trophy two years in a row since Jim Courier in 1992-93.

♦ Dr. Anuradha Uppaluri, a resident of Moseley , Birmingham was recognized with the prestigious British Citizen Award (BCA) for 2025. This honor, bestowed upon her at the Palace of Westminster, celebrates her extraordinary contributions to raising awareness about autism and her substantial fundraising efforts for autism-related charities in the UK. In 2024, Dr. Uppaluri founded Bridging Brains CIC, a non-profit organization aimed at empowering families with special needs children. ♦ The British Citizen Award is part of the People's Honour Awards, announced annually by the British government. It recognizes individuals who demonstrate selfless and sustained civic leadership, highlighting heroes who strengthen the fabric of society across the United Kingdom.

Indian-American Kush Desai as his deputy press secretary

♦ US President Donald Trump has appointed Indian-American Kush Desai as his deputy press secretary. He recently served as the deputy communications director for the 2024 Republican National Convention and as communications director for the Republican Party of Iowa.    ♦ At the Republican National Committee, Desai held the role of deputy battleground states and Pennsylvania communications director, where he focused on messaging and building narratives for crucial battleground states.  ♦ Before entering politics, Desai worked as a journalist for The Daily Caller in Washington, DC, for 10 months.

Madison Keys won the Australian Open final

♦ American Madison Keys won the Australian Open final on 25 January 2025. She defeated Aryna Sabalenka with 6-3 2-6 7-5 in the final. This is Madison's maiden Grand Slam title.  ♦ Madison Keys became the fourth-oldest first-time Grand Slam champion in the professional era after Flavia Pennetta, Ann Jones and Francesca Schiavone, and her win ended Sabalenka's bid for a third straight Melbourne Park crown.

Padma Awards

♦ The Central government announced the recipients of the coveted Padma Awards on 25 January 2025. These one of the highest civilian Awards of the country, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The Awards are given in various disciplines/ fields of activities, viz.- art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc.  ♦ ‘Padma Vibhushan’ is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; ‘Padma Bhushan’ for distinguished service of high order and ‘Padma Shri’ for distinguished service in any field. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year. ♦ For the year 2025, the President has approved conferment of 139 Padma Awards including1 duo case (in a duo case, the Award is counted as one). గణతంత్ర వేడుకలు

76వ గణతంత్ర వేడుకలను పురస్కరించుకుని 2025, జనవరి 26న దిల్లీలోని కర్తవ్యపథ్‌లో నిర్వహించిన ప్రధాన కార్యక్రమంలో రాష్ట్రపతి ద్రౌపదీ ముర్ము జాతీయ పతాకాన్ని ఆవిష్కరించి, సైనిక బలగాల నుంచి గౌరవ వందనం స్వీకరించారు. ఇండోనేసియా అధ్యక్షుడు ప్రబోవో సుబియాంతో ముఖ్యఅతిథిగా హాజరయ్యారు.   ప్రత్యేకతలు: త్రివిధ దళాలు సంయుక్తంగా శకటాన్ని తీసుకురావడం ఈసారి ఒక ప్రత్యేకత. అభివృద్ధి ప్రధాన ఇతివృత్తంగా ‘స్వర్ణిమ్‌ భారత్‌: విరాసత్‌ ఔర్‌ వికాస్‌’ పేరుతో ప్రత్యేక శకటాలకు రూపకల్పన చేశారు.   రాష్ట్రాలు, కేంద్ర శాఖలకు చెందిన 31 శకటాలను ప్రదర్శించారు. చరిత్రలో తొలిసారిగా 100 మంది మహిళలు శంఖం, నాదస్వరం, డోలు వంటి సంప్రదాయ సంగీత వాయిద్యాలను వాయిస్తూ కర్తవ్యపథ్‌లో పరేడ్‌ను ప్రారంభించారు. సైన్యం, నౌకాదళం, వాయుసేనల్లో నారీశక్తిని చాటేలా అధికారిణులు- లెఫ్టినెంట్‌ కర్నల్‌ రవీందర్‌జీత్‌ రంధావా, లెఫ్టినెంట్‌ కమాండర్‌ మణి అగర్వాల్, ఫ్లైట్‌ లెఫ్టినెంట్‌ రుచి సాహా, కెప్టెన్‌ సంధ్యా మహ్లా దీనిలో పాల్గొన్నారు. డీఆర్‌డీవో బృందానికి మహిళా శాస్త్రవేత్త సునీతా జెనా నాయకత్వం వహించారు. సహాయ కమాండెంట్‌ ఐశ్వర్య జాయ్‌ నేతృత్వంలోని 148 మంది సభ్యుల సీఆర్పీఎఫ్‌ మహిళా బృందం, డివిజనల్‌ సెక్యూరిటీ కమిషనర్‌ ఆదిత్య నేతృత్వంలోని ఆర్పీఎఫ్‌ బృందం పరేడ్‌లో పాల్గొన్నాయి. 15 మంది మహిళా పైలట్ల బృందం గగనతల విన్యాసాలతో తమ ప్రతిభను చూపింది.
