India’s fourth-generation deep-ocean submersible, Matsya-6000, has successfully completed its wet testing at the harbour in Chennai. ♦ The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) announced this on 17 February 2025—the test was conducted as part of the Samudrayan Project ♦ ‘Samudrayan’ is an ambitious project of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and is being implemented as part of the `4,800 crore ‘Deep Ocean Mission’ (DOM). ♦ Under the ‘Samudrayan’ project ‘Matsya-6000’ will descend up to a depth of 6,000 metres in the Indian Ocean in stages by 2026. NIOT is an autonomous society under the MoES.
Gyanesh Kumar was appointed as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India on 17 February 2025. He is a 1988-batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre and is senior to the two other commissioners on the three-member panel that was led by Rajiv Kumar. ♦ The government also announced the appointment of Vivek Joshi as Election Commissioner. The other commissioner on the panel is Sukhbir Singh Sandhu. ♦ This is the first appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner under the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioner Act, 2023 which came into force in December 2023.
తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర ఉప ముఖ్యమంత్రి భట్టివిక్రమార్క 2025, ఫిబ్రవరి 17న సచివాలయంలో ‘రాష్ట్ర గణాంకాల నివేదిక-2024’ను విడుదల చేశారు. రాష్ట్రంలో కోటిన్నర మంది వ్యవసాయంలోనే ఉపాధి పొందుతున్నారని నివేదికలో అర్థ, గణాంకశాఖ వెల్లడించింది. 2023-24లో రూ.40.44 లక్షల కోట్ల స్థూల రాష్ట్ర జాతీయోత్పత్తి(జీఎస్‌డీపీ)తో మహారాష్ట్ర అగ్రస్థానంలో నిలవగా, రూ.15.01 లక్షల కోట్లతో తెలంగాణ 7వ స్థానంలో ఉంది. నివేదికలోని ముఖ్యాంశాలు: తెలంగాణ జీఎస్‌డీపీలో రియల్‌ ఎస్టేట్, ఐటీ, వృత్తి సేవల రంగం వాటా 24.4 శాతం ఉండగా; వ్యవసాయం, దాని అనుబంధ రంగాలు, గనులు కలిపి 17.6%, వాణిజ్య, హోటళ్ల రంగం వాటా 19.9%, ఉత్పత్తి రంగం 8.9%, నిర్మాణ రంగం 5.2%, రవాణా, సమాచార రంగం 7%, ఆర్థిక సేవలు 4.8%, ఇతర రంగాలు మిగిలిన వాటా కలిగిఉన్నాయి. జీఎస్‌డీపీలో రియల్‌ ఎస్టేట్, ఐటీ, వృత్తి సేవల రంగం 24.4 శాతంతో మొదటి ర్యాంకులో ఉన్నా; 51 శాతం మందికి ఉపాధి కల్పిస్తూ వ్యవసాయమే అగ్రస్థానంలో నిలిచింది. ఐటీ, వృత్తిసేవల రంగంలో 4% మంది, ఉత్పత్తిలో 12,వాణిజ్య, హోటళ్ల రంగంలో 10% మంది, మిగిలినవారు ఇతర రంగాల్లో ఉపాధి పొందుతున్నారు. 2023-24లో రాష్ట్ర ప్రజల తలసరి వార్షిక ఆదాయం(పీసీఐ)లో రూ.5.87 లక్షలతో సిక్కిం, రూ.4.61 లక్షలతో దిల్లీ, రూ.3.56 లక్షలతో తెలంగాణ వరుసగా తొలి మూడు స్థానాల్లో ఉన్నాయి. జాతీయస్థాయిలో పీసీఐ రూ.1.84 లక్షలుగా ఉంది.
