Manohar Parrikar Yuva Scientist Award

♦ Dr. Sai Gautam Gopalakrishnan was awarded the third edition of the Manohar Parrikar Yuva Scientist Award 2025. ♦ He is working as an Associate Professor of Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. ♦ The award carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh, which is the highest in science and technology in the country. ♦ Of the 50 applications received from top research institutes in the country, 10 candidates were shortlisted for an interview. ♦ An official said that Gopalakrishnan was selected after an intense scrutiny by an expert committee headed by Anil Kakodkar. ♦ The award will be presented at Manohar Parrikar Vigyan Mahotsav in December.

HAL signs deal with GE

♦ Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on 7 November 2025 inked a deal with US-based General Electric (GE) for the supply of 113 F404-GE-IN20 jet engines to power the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mark-1A.   ♦ Engine deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2027 and 2032. ♦ The size of the deal is learnt to be close to USD 1 billion (approximately Rs 8,870 crore).

Deepak Gupta

♦ The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB)  has recommended Deepak Gupta as the next Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL (India) Ltd. ♦ He is currently Director (Projects) at GAIL (India) Ltd.  Gupta is set to succeed Sandeep Kumar Gupta, who is scheduled to retire on 28 February 2026.  ♦ The PESB conducted interviews to identify a suitable candidate for the CMD post. ♦ A total of 12 senior professionals from GAIL and other leading public sector undertakings appeared for the interview.

Ambuj Nath Bose Prize

♦ The Royal College of Physicians (RCP), London, has conferred the 2025 Ambuj Nath Bose Prize to Dr D Nageshwar Reddy. ♦ He is the Chairman of AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad. ♦ He got this award in recognition of his contributions to the field of endoscopy. ♦ The honour marks a historic moment for Indian medicine, as Dr Reddy becomes only the second Indian to receive this prestigious award since Dr C Gopalan was recognised in 1998. ♦ The Ambuj Nath Bose Prize, established in 1954 at the request of Lieutenant Colonel Ambuj Nath Bose (1890–1948), recognises outstanding research in medical fields chosen by the RCP Council.

Hockey Centenary Celebrations

♦ The Sports Authority of India and Hockey India on 7 November 2025 celebrated the centenary of Indian hockey at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. ♦ The celebration marked a century of sporting excellence, pride, and unity, honouring the journey of Indian hockey from its beginnings in 1925 to its resurgence in the modern era. ♦ A commemorative book, “100 Years of Indian Hockey,” chronicling the sport’s journey, was launched, alongside a special photo exhibition showcasing archival photographs, Olympic moments, and memorabilia tracing Indian hockey from the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics to the present day.

Third edition of the India-France AI Policy

♦ The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA) to the Government of India, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the Consulate General of France in Bengaluru, organised the third edition of the India–France AI Policy Roundtable at IISc on 7 November 2025. ♦ The event was held as part of the pre-summit series leading up to the AI Impact Summit 2026, which will be hosted by India. ♦ The roundtable continued the Track 1.5 dialogue series on AI policy cooperation between India and France, following earlier sessions held in Bengaluru and Paris. ♦ Discussions focused on advancing collaboration in key areas such as AI infrastructure, industry partnerships, research cooperation, and responsible AI governance, reflecting a shared vision of equitable access to AI resources and inclusive innovation. ♦ The session was co-chaired by Anne Bouverot, Special Envoy of the President of the French Republic for Artificial Intelligence, and Amit A. Shukla, Joint Secretary, Cyber Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs.

150 years of its National Song

♦ On 7 November 2025, India marks a historic cultural milestone, celebrating 150 years of its National Song, Vande Mataram—a hymn that has inspired generations with its message of devotion, unity, and patriotism. ♦ Composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee on November 7,1875, and was later incorporated into Anandamath, published in 1882. ♦ The song was first sung by Rabindranath Tagore at the 1896 Indian National Congress session in Calcutta. ♦ Its political significance emerged during the Swadeshi and anti-partition movements in Bengal, with the slogan Vande Mataram first raised publicly on August 7 1905 by thousands of students in Kolkata. ♦ The song’s appeal quickly spread beyond Bengal, becoming a unifying anthem for the burgeoning nationalist movement across India. ♦ In 1950, the Constituent Assembly of India officially recognized Vande Mataram as the National Song, honoring it alongside Jana Gana Mana, the National Anthem.

శ్రీకృష్ణదేవరాయ విశ్వవిద్యాలయంలోని భౌతికశాస్త్ర విశ్రాంత ఆచార్యుడు రాజూరు రామకృష్ణారెడ్డి యునైటెడ్‌ కింగ్‌డమ్‌లోని ‘రాయల్‌ సొసైటీ ఆఫ్‌ కెమిస్ట్రీ’ అనే సంస్థ ఫెలోగా ఎంపికయ్యారు. ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా 55 వేల మంది ఇందులో సభ్యులుగా ఉంటారు. అసాధారణ పరిశోధనలు చేసిన శాస్త్రవేత్తలకు ఇందులో చోటు దక్కుతుంది. సైద్ధాంతిక, భౌతిక, పర్యావరణ శాస్త్రాల్లో రామకృష్ణారెడ్డి పరిశోధనలు గావించారు. ఆయా రంగాల్లో 244 పరిశోధన ప్రతులు, గూగుల్‌ సైటేషన్స్‌ 6439, ఐ10 ఇండెక్స్‌ 125, హెచ్‌ ఇండెక్స్‌ 45 పొందారు.

చైనా అమ్ములపొదిలోకి మూడో విమానవాహక నౌక

ఫుజియాన్‌ పేరుతో తన మూడో విమానవాహక నౌకను చైనా లాంఛనంగా నేవీలో చేర్చింది. పూర్తిగా స్వదేశీ పరిజ్ఞానంతో చేసిన ఈ విమానవాహక నౌకను చైనా అధ్యక్షుడు జిన్‌పింగ్‌ హైనాన్‌ ప్రావిన్స్‌లోని సాన్య రేవు వద్ద ప్రారంభించారు. ఫుజియాన్‌లో విద్యుదయస్కాంత (ఎలక్ట్రోమ్యాగ్నెటిక్‌ ఎయిర్‌క్రాఫ్ట్‌ లాంచ్‌ సిస్టమ్‌- ఈమాల్స్‌) వ్యవస్థను ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. విమాన వాహకనౌక డెక్‌ నుంచి యుద్ధవిమానాలను వేగంగా, సాఫీగా నింగిలోకి పంపడానికి ఇది ఉపయోగపడుతంది. ఇలాంటి వ్యవస్థ.. అమెరికాకు చెందిన ఎయిర్‌క్రాఫ్ట్‌ క్యారియర్‌ యూఎస్‌ఎస్‌ జెరల్డ్‌ ఆర్‌ ఫోర్డ్‌లో మాత్రమే ఉంది.
