Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)

♦ Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully completed the User Evaluation Trials (UET) of Next Generation Akash missile (Akash-NG) system. During the trials, the missiles successfully intercepted aerial targets at different range & altitude including the near-boundary-low-altitude and Long Range, high altitude scenarios. ♦ Akash-NG, equipped with indigenous RF seeker and propelled by solid rocket motor, is a potent system for ensuring air defense against different types of aerial threats. All the systems & sub-systems including the Multi Function Radar (MFR), Command and Control Unit, Missile Launch vehicle (MLV) etc. have been designed by various laboratories of DRDO with the help of Indian industries. The trials were witnessed by Senior Scientists of DRDO & User Reps from the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)

♦ The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the LVM3-M6 rocket, placing the United States’ BlueBird Block-2 communication satellite into its intended Low Earth Orbit on 24 december 2025. ♦ The LVM3-M6/BlueBird Block-2 mission is a dedicated commercial launch carried out using ISRO’s heavy-lift launch vehicle LVM3. The mission marked the sixth operational flight of the LVM3 rocket and involved the deployment of the BlueBird Block-2 satellite developed by US-based AST SpaceMobile. ♦ Designed to provide space-based cellular broadband connectivity directly to standard mobile smartphones, the BlueBird Block-2 spacecraft is part of AST SpaceMobile’s next-generation satellite constellation. It is the largest commercial communications satellite to be deployed in Low Earth Orbit and also the heaviest payload launched by the LVM3 vehicle from Indian soil. ♦ The LVM3 launch vehicle, developed by ISRO, is a three-stage rocket comprising two solid strap-on motors (S200), a liquid core stage (L110) and a cryogenic upper stage (C25). With a lift-off mass of 640 tonnes and a height of 43.5 metres, the vehicle is capable of carrying up to 4,200 kg to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. ♦ In earlier missions, the LVM3 has successfully launched flagship national programmes such as Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3, along with two OneWeb missions that placed 72 satellites into orbit. The previous LVM3 mission, LVM3-M5/CMS-03, was successfully completed on November 2, 2025.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG)

♦ The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) inducted its first in-built Pollution Control Vessel (PCV), Samudra Pratap (Yard 1267), marking a milestone in strengthening the country’s maritime environmental protection capabilities. The vessel has been designed and constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) under the two-ship PCV project. ♦ With over 60 percent indigenous content, the induction of Samudra Pratap underscores the government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives. It is the first indigenously designed and built pollution control vessel to be commissioned into the Indian Coast Guard and is also the largest ship in the ICG fleet. ♦ Measuring 114.5 metres in length and 16.5 metres in breadth, with a displacement of 4,170 tonnes, the vessel is equipped with advanced systems to enhance operational reach and response capability. Its armament includes a 30 mm CRN-91 gun and two 12.7 mm stabilised remote-controlled guns integrated with fire control systems. ♦ The ship also features an indigenously developed Integrated Bridge System, Integrated Platform Management System, Automated Power Management System, and a high-capacity external firefighting system. ♦ Samudra Pratap is the first Indian Coast Guard ship fitted with Dynamic Positioning capability (DP-1) and holds FiFi-2/FFV-2 notation certification.

The Quality Council of India (QCI)

♦ The Quality Council of India (QCI) on 24 December 2025 announced a comprehensive set of next-generation quality reforms aimed at strengthening India’s quality ecosystem across healthcare, laboratories, MSMEs and manufacturing sectors. ♦ The reforms were unveiled on the eve of Sushasan Divas 2025 and align with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The reforms are being implemented under the guidance of Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal. ♦ As part of the system-wide reforms, QCI unveiled the Q Mark – Desh ka Haq, a QR-coded Mark of Quality designed to enhance transparency, trust and citizen awareness. The initiative will allow citizens to verify the quality credentials of laboratories, hospitals and MSMEs, while helping eliminate fake certificates.

The National Test House (NTH)

♦ The National Test House (NTH) and the Department of Posts, Government of India, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable nationwide collection and transportation of samples for quality testing. The agreement aims to strengthen consumer protection and improve access to quality testing services by facilitating safe, reliable and timely delivery of samples to NTH laboratories across the country. ♦ Under the MoU, the Department of Posts will provide doorstep sample pickup from customers and transport the samples to NTH laboratories located in Kolkata, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, Jaipur, Guwahati, Varanasi and Chennai. The service will leverage India Post’s extensive network spanning urban, rural and remote regions. ♦ The MoU was signed on December 24, on the occasion of National Consumer Day at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, in the presence of Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi and Minister of State B. L. Verma.

వ్యక్తిగత, సామాజిక, కుటుంబ అవసరాల కోసం వస్తువులు లేదా సేవలు పొందే వ్యక్తిని వినియోగదారుడు అంటారు. ప్రతి పరిశ్రమ ద్వారా ఉత్పత్తి చేసే వస్తువు లేదా సేవ అంతిమంగా వినియోగదారుకు చేరాలనే ఉద్దేశంతోనే ఆయా సంస్థలు పనిచేస్తుంటాయి. వీరు లేకపోతే కంపెనీలకు మనుగడే ఉండదు. వినియోగదారులకు నాణ్యమైన వస్తు, సేవలు అందించడం సంస్థల ప్రాథమిక విధి. అయితే వివిధ కంపెనీలు మోసపూరిత ధోరణితో కన్స్యూమర్ల పట్ల నిర్లక్ష్యంగా వ్యవహరిస్తున్నాయి. మన దేశంలో వినియోగదారుల ప్రయోజనాలను కాపాడే లక్ష్యంతో ఏటా డిసెంబరు 24న ‘జాతీయ వినియోగదారుల దినోత్సవం’గా (National Consumer Day) నిర్వహిస్తారు. దీన్నే ‘జాతీయ వినియోగదారుల హక్కుల దినోత్సవం’ (National Consumer Rights Day) అని కూడా అంటారు. వినియోగదారుల రక్షణ, సాధికారత, హక్కులపై అవగాహన కల్పించడం ఈ రోజు ముఖ్య ఉద్దేశం. చారిత్రక నేపథ్యం భారతదేశంలో అత్యంత ముఖ్యమైన చట్టాల్లో వినియోగదారుల రక్షణ చట్టం 1986 ఒకటి. అన్యాయమైన వాణిజ్య పద్ధతులు, లోపభూయిష్ట వస్తువులు, నాణ్యత లేని సేవల నుంచి వినియోగదారుడిని రక్షించడం దీని లక్ష్యం. దీని అమలుకు ముందు మన దేశంలో వినియోగదారుల సమస్యలకు సరైన పరిష్కారం లేదు. విక్రేతల దోపిడీ అధికంగా ఉండేది. ఈ చట్టం వచ్చాక ఫిర్యాదుల పరిష్కారం వేగవంతం అయ్యింది. ఈ చట్టాన్ని భారతదేశంలో వినియోగదారుల హక్కుల మాగ్నా కార్టా అని పిలుస్తారు. ఇది 1986, డిసెంబరు 24న మన దేశంలో అమల్లోకి వచ్చింది. భారత్‌లోని వినియోగదారుల హక్కుల్లో నిర్మాణాత్మక మార్పు తీసుకొచ్చిన ఈ చట్టం అమలైన తేదీని ఏటా ‘జాతీయ వినియోగదారుల దినోత్సవం’గా జరపాలని 2019లో భారత ప్రభుత్వం ప్రకటించింది. 2020 నుంచి ఏటా దీన్ని నిర్వహిస్తున్నారు.

ప్రభుత్వరంగ గనుల సంస్థ ఎన్‌ఎండీసీ అమెరికాలోని కొలరాడో స్కూల్‌ ఆఫ్‌ మైన్స్‌తో ఒప్పందం (ఎంఓయూ) కుదుర్చుకుంది. ప్రధానంగా మైనింగ్, మినరల్‌ ప్రాసెసింగ్, మెటలర్జీ, గనుల విభాగంలో ఏఐ/ఎంఎల్‌ (కృత్రిమమేధ/యాంత్రీకరణ)పై పరిశోధనలు నిర్వహించడం కోసం ఈ ఒప్పందం కుదుర్చుకున్నట్లు ఎన్‌ఎండీసీ వెల్లడించింది.
