This notification outlines the guidelines for admissions into Class VI at Ekalavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) across Andhra Pradesh for the academic year 2026-27. Managed by the APTWREI Society (Gurukulam), these schools aim to provide quality education to tribal students through a dedicated selection process. Details:  Ekalavya Model Residential Schools - 6th class Admissions  Number of Seats:  Total Sanctioned Seats: 1,680 seats across 28 institutions. Per  School Intake: 60 students per school (30 Boys and 30 Girls).  Section Strength: 30 students per section (2 sections per school). Eligibility: Candidates must have qualified Class V from a government, government-aided, or recognized school. Children who studied at home are also eligible under the RTE Act, provided a self-declaration is submitted. Doomsday Clock

♦ Atomic scientists set their “Doomsday Clock” closer than ever to midnight, citing aggressive behavior by nuclear powers Russia, China and the United States, fraying nuclear arms control, conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East and AI worries among factors driving risks for global disaster. ♦ The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists set the clock to 85 seconds before midnight, the theoretical point of annihilation. That is four seconds closer than it was set last year (2025). ♦ The Chicago-based nonprofit created the clock in 1947 during the Cold War tensions that followed World War Two to warn the public about how close humankind was to destroying the world. ♦ It was the third time in the past four years that the scientists moved the clock closer to midnight.

♦ Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has died in a plane crash at Maharashtra’s Baramati on 28 January 2026. The Civil Aviation Ministry informed that a Learjet 45 (VT-SSK) aircraft, operated by VSR, crash-landed at Baramati airport. Ajit Pawar was born on 22 July 1959 in Deolali Pravara, located in Rahuri taluka of Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra. ♦ Ajit Pawar’s political journey formally began in 1991, influenced by his uncle and mentor Sharad Pawar. He was Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra six times. He handled various ministries, including the Finance portfolio and presented the state budget 11 times. ♦ He served as the Chairman of the Pune District Central Cooperative Bank for 16 years. He was also the long-serving President of the Maharashtra State Olympic Association, Maharashtra Kho-Kho and Kabaddi Association.

Wings India 2026

♦ Asia’s largest civil aviation event, Wings India 2026 programme, commenced at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad, on 28 January 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the programme via video conferencing. Highlighting infrastructure expansion, the Prime Minister said that the number of airports in the country has increased from 70 in 2014 to over 160 at present, while more than 100 aerodromes have been activated. He said the UDAN scheme has played a key role in strengthening regional connectivity, enabling around 1.5 crore passengers to travel on routes that did not exist earlier. ♦ The theme of Wings India 2026 is Indian Aviation: Paving the Future – From Design to Deployment, Manufacturing to Maintenance, Inclusivity to Innovation and Safety to Sustainability. ♦ The event features an elaborate and world-class international exhibition, static aircraft displays and aerobatic flying shows, a high-level global aviation conference, CEO roundtables, B2B and B2G meetings, an Aviation Job Fair and a Student Innovation Competition. Ministerial-level and official foreign delegations from 20 countries, including Cambodia, Ghana, Russia, Seychelles, Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore, Algeria, the Dominican Republic, Iran, the Maldives, Mongolia, Mozambique, Oman, Qatar, the European Union, the UK, France, Germany, and the USA, attended Wings India 2026. ♦ The event aims to be the most comprehensive aviation platform for policymakers, global CEOs, investors, innovators, airlines, airports, technology providers, training institutions and startups.

Republic Day Parade 2026

♦ The results of the Best Marching Contingents and Best Tableaux of the Republic Day Parade 2026 was announced on 28 January 2026. Among the three Services, the Indian Navy has been adjudged the Best Marching Contingent, while the Delhi Police won the award in the category of Central Armed Police Forces and other Auxiliary Forces. In the States and Union Territories category, Maharashtra secured first place for its tableau Ganeshotsav: A Symbol of Aatmanirbharta. Jammu and Kashmir stood second for Handicrafts and Folk Dances of Jammu & Kashmir, followed by Kerala in third place for Water Metro and 100 Per Cent Digital Literacy: Aatmanirbhar Kerala for Aatmanirbhar Bharat. ♦ Among Central Ministries and Departments, the Ministry of Culture won for its tableau Vande Mataram – The Soul Cry of a Nation. Special prizes were awarded to the Central Public Works Department for Vande Mataram – Commemoration of 150 Years, and to the dance group for Vande Mataram: The Eternal Resonance of India. ♦ The Popular Choice Awards, based on an online poll conducted on the MyGov portal, were also announced. The Assam Regiment was voted the Best Marching Contingent among the Services, while the CRPF topped the Central Armed Police Forces and Auxiliary Forces category. వింగ్స్‌ ఇండియా-2026 సదస్సు

హైదరాబాద్‌లోని బేగంపేట విమానాశ్రయంలో 2026, జనవరి 28న వింగ్స్‌ ఇండియా-2026 సదస్సు మొదలైంది. దీని ప్రారంభోత్సవంలో ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోదీ వీడియో సందేశం ద్వారా మాట్లాడారు. ప్రపంచంలోనే మూడో అతిపెద్ద దేశీయ విమానయాన విపణిగా భారత్‌ ఉందని ఆయన పేర్కొన్నారు. 2014లో దేశంలో 70 విమానాశ్రయాలే ఉండగా, ప్రస్తుం ఆ సంఖ్య 160 మించింది. 100కు పైగా ఏరోడ్రోమ్‌లను అందుబాటులోకి వచాయి. చిన్న నగరాల కోసం ప్రవేశపెట్టిన ఉడాన్‌ పథకం ద్వారా, కొత్త మార్గాల్లో సుమారు 1.5 కోట్ల మంది రాకపోకలు సాగించారు. 2047 నాటికి దేశంలో 400కు పైగా విమానాశ్రయాలు ఏర్పాటు చేయాలన్నదే మా లక్ష్యం అని మోదీ వెల్లడించారు.
