Ministry of Coal said

♦ The Ministry of Coal said, India produced a record one billion tonnes of coal in fiscal year 2024-25. ♦ This achievement comes 11 days ahead of last fiscal's 997.83 million tonnes (MT) coal production. ♦ India depends on coal for approximately 55% of its energy mix, and around 74% of the country's electricity is generated by coal-based power plants. ♦ From April to December 2024, India’s coal imports declined by 8.4%, resulting in forex savings of around $5.43 billion (Rs.42,315.7 crore) as compared to the same period of last year (2023-24).

♦ Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh released the "India BioEconomy Report 2025" (IBER 2025) at the BIRAC Foundation Day ceremony at the National Media Centre in New Delhi on 21 March 2025. ♦ On this occasion he said, India's bio-economy has witnessed a remarkable 16-fold rise in 10 years of the past one decade, from $10 Billion in 2014 to an impressive $165.7 Billion in 2024. ♦By the Department of Biotechnology and BIRAC that tracks the growth and performance of India’s bioeconomy, mapping its size, structure, and key trends, and providing insights for policy and investment decisions ♦ The report highlighted the progress made by the bioeconomy sector and as per the report, the sector is contributing 4.25% to the overall GDP. The sector has shown a CAGR of 17.9% over the past four years, showcasing India’s potential as a global biotech powerhouse.

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs

♦ The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has approved the construction of over 3.53 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). ♦ According to the ministry, a total of 3,52,915 houses have been sanctioned under the Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) and Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) components. ♦ These houses will be built across ten states and union territories—Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh. ♦ The scheme emphasizes women’s empowerment, with over 2.67 lakh houses approved specifically for women beneficiaries, including single women and widows. ♦ Additionally, 90 houses have been allocated to transgender individuals. ♦ The approved list also includes 80,850 houses for Scheduled Caste beneficiaries, 15,928 for Scheduled Tribes, and 2,12,603 for Other Backward Classes, aiming to promote inclusivity across underprivileged groups. ♦ PMAY-U 2.0, launched in September 2024, is currently under implementation, with Memorandums of Agreement signed between the Ministry and 31 states and union territories. The scheme is set to benefit one crore urban poor and middle-class families over five years. Implementation is being carried out through four verticals—Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH), and Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS).

పాముకాటు మరణాల్లో 3వ స్థానంలో ఏపీ

100 కోట్ల టన్నుల బొగ్గు ఉత్పత్తి

ప్రస్తుత ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరం (2024-25)లో ఇప్పటికే మనదేశం రికార్డు స్థాయిలో 1 బిలియన్‌ (100 కోట్ల) టన్నులకు పైగా బొగ్గు ఉత్పత్తిని సాధించినట్లు ప్రధాన మంత్రి నరేంద్ర మోదీ 2025, మార్చి 21న పేర్కొన్నారు. గత ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరంలో (2023-24) బొగ్గు ఉత్పత్తి 997.83 మిలియన్‌ టన్నులుగా (ఎమ్‌టీ) ఉంది. ఈసారి ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరం ముగియడానికి 11 రోజుల ముందే (ఈనెల 20న) బిలియన్‌ టన్నుల ఉత్పత్తి సాధించినట్లు బొగ్గు శాఖ పేర్కొంది. మనదేశ ఇంధన అవసరాల్లో 55% వరకు బొగ్గే ఆధారమవుతోంది. దేశ విద్యుదుత్పత్తిలో 74% బొగ్గు ఆధారిత ప్లాంట్లలోనే జరుగుతోంది. 2024-25లో 1,080 మిలియన్‌ టన్నుల బొగ్గు ఉత్పత్తి చేయాలన్నది బొగ్గు శాఖ ప్రణాళిక.
