హురున్‌ ఇండియా మహిళా నాయకుల జాబితా

దేశ ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థను ప్రభావితం చేస్తున్న 97 మంది శక్తిమంత మహిళలతో 2025 కాండెరే హురున్‌ ఇండియా మహిళా నాయకుల జాబితాను హురున్‌ విడుదల చేసింది. ఆర్థిక, సాంకేతిక, దాతృత్వం, కళలు, అంకుర సంస్థలకు సంబంధించిన వారితో ఈ తొలి జాబితా విడుదలైంది. ఆయా మహిళలు నేతృత్వం వహిస్తున్న కంపెనీల విలువ ఆధారంగా 10 మందితో రంగాల వారీగా జాబితా రూపొందించారు.  మహిళా వృత్తి నిపుణుల్లో శాంతి ఏకాంబరం అగ్రస్థానంలో నిలిచారు. రూ.3.81 లక్షల కోట్ల విలువ కలిగిన కోటక్‌ మహీంద్రా బ్యాంక్‌కు ఆమె డిప్యూటీ మేనేజింగ్‌ డైరెక్టరుగా వ్యవహరిస్తున్నారు. రూ.1.44 లక్షల కోట్ల విలువైన పవర్‌ ఫైనాన్స్‌ కార్పొరేషన్‌ ఛైర్‌పర్సన్‌ మేనేజింగ్‌ డైరెక్టరుగా ఉన్న పర్మీందర్‌ చోప్రా రెండో స్థానంలో ఉన్నారు.  రిలయన్స్‌ రిటెయిల్‌ ఎగ్జిక్యూటివ్‌ డైరెక్టర్‌ ఈశా అంబానీ 6వ స్థానంలో ఉన్నారు.

ఐఐఏఎస్‌ అధ్యక్ష పదవి

బెల్జియంలోని ఇంటర్నేషనల్‌ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్‌ ఆఫ్‌ అడ్మినిస్ట్రేటివ్‌ సైన్సెస్‌ (ఐఐఏఎస్‌) అధ్యక్ష పదవిని తొలిసారి భారత్‌ గెలుచుకుంది. శాస్త్రీయ పరిశోధనలు నిర్వహించే ఐఐఏఎస్‌లో 31 దేశాలకు సభ్యత్వం ఉంది. 1998 నుంచి ఇందులో భారత్‌కు సభ్యత్వం ఉంది. అధ్యక్ష పదవి (2025-28)కి భారత్, ఆస్ట్రియా పోటీ పడ్డాయి. బ్యాలెట్‌ ద్వారా జరిగిన ఎన్నికలో 141 ఓట్లు పోలయ్యాయి. భారత్‌కు 87 ఓట్లు, ఆస్ట్రియాకు 54 ఓట్లు లభించాయి. భారత్‌ తరఫున డిపార్ట్‌మెంట్‌ ఆఫ్‌ అడ్మినిస్ట్రేటివ్‌ రీఫార్మ్స్‌ అండ్‌ పబ్లిక్‌ గ్రీవెన్సెస్‌ కార్యదర్శి వి.శ్రీనివాస్‌ను అధ్యక్షపదవికి ప్రధానమంత్రి మోదీ సిఫార్సు చేశారు.

పరమ విశిష్ట సేవా పతకం

కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం గణతంత్ర దినోత్సవం సందర్భంగా ప్రకటించిన పరమ విశిష్ట సేవా పతకాన్ని వైస్‌ అడ్మిరల్, సదరన్‌ నేవల్‌ కమాండ్‌ ఇన్‌ చీఫ్‌ వెన్నం శ్రీనివాస్‌ 2025, జూన్‌ 4న రాష్ట్రపతి ద్రౌపదీ ముర్ము చేతుల మీదుగా అందుకున్నారు. గుంటూరు జిల్లా తెనాలికి చెందిన ఈయన భారత నౌకాదళానికి 38 ఏళ్లుగా అందించిన సేవలకు గాను కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం ఈ పతకంతో గౌరవించింది.

దేశ 16వ జన గణన

దేశ 16వ జన గణనను 2027 ఫిబ్రవరిలో చేపట్టాలని కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం నిర్ణయించింది. దీంతోపాటే కుల గణననూ చేపట్టి అదే నెల చివరి నాటికి పూర్తి చేయనుంది. ఇందుకోసం 2027 మార్చి 1ని రెఫరెన్స్‌ తేదీగా నిర్ణయించింది. అంటే ముందు రోజైన ఫిబ్రవరి 28వ తేదీ రాత్రి 12 గంటలకల్లా జన గణన పూర్తి కానుంది. అంతకుముందే 2026 ఏప్రిల్‌లోనే తొలి విడత హౌస్‌ లిస్టింగ్‌ను ప్రారంభిస్తారు. మంచు ప్రభావిత ప్రాంతాలైన లద్ధాఖ్, జమ్మూ కశ్మీర్, హిమాచల్‌ ప్రదేశ్, ఉత్తరాఖండ్‌లలో 2026 సెప్టెంబరు ఆఖరు నాటికే జన గణన పూర్తి కానుంది. ఈ ప్రాంతాలకు 2026 అక్టోబరు 1ని రెఫరెన్స్‌ తేదీగా ప్రకటించింది.  జనాభా లెక్కల చట్టం-1948లోని (సెన్సస్‌ యాక్ట్‌-1948) సెక్షన్‌ 3 నిబంధనల ప్రకారం.. ఈ వివరాలను జూన్‌ 16న అధికారిక గెజిట్‌లో ప్రచురించనున్నట్లు కేంద్ర హోంశాఖ వెల్లడించింది. వాస్తవానికి 2021లోనే జన గణన జరగాల్సి ఉంది. కొవిడ్‌ మహమ్మారి కారణంగా అది వాయిదా పడింది. 16 ఏళ్ల తర్వాత జన గణన జరగనుంది.  ఇదివరకు కేవలం జనాభా లెక్కలు, ఎస్సీ, ఎస్టీ కులాల వివరాల సేకరణకే ప్రభుత్వం పరిమితమైంది. ఇప్పుడు తొలిసారిగా ఓబీసీ కులాల వివరాలనూ ప్రత్యేకంగా సేకరించనుంది.

Shailendra Nath Gupta

♦ Shailendra Nath Gupta assumed the office of Director General of Defence Estates (DGDE). ♦ He is a 1990-batch Indian Defence Estates Service officer, Gupta has a distinguished career in Cantonments and Defence land management.  ♦ Prior to this appointment, he has served in various capacities including CEO of various Cantt Boards, Defence Estate Officer of various circles, staff officer, Director Defence Estates, Central Command and Principal Director, Defence Estates, Eastern Command. ♦ DGDE is responsible for the management and maintenance of approx. ♦ 18 lakh acres of defence land across the country. ♦ It operates under six commands, 38 Defence Estates Circles and 61 Cantonment Boards.

President Droupadi Murmu

♦ President Droupadi Murmu conferred upon 92 Distinguished Service Decorations during the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2025 (Phase-II) at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on June 4. ♦ Personnel of the Armed Forces, Indian Coast Guard and Border Roads Organisation were awarded by the President. ♦ 30 Param Vishisht Seva Medals, five Uttam Yudh Seva Medals and 57 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals (AVSMs) were given to the personnel for distinguished service. ♦ Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor were among those who have been conferred upon Param Vishisht Seva Medals. ♦ Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha and others were awarded Uttam Yudh Seva Medals. ♦ Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, Director General Paramesh Sivamani, Rear Admiral Sandeep Mehta, Air Vice Marshal Ajay Kumar Pan, George P Cherian of Border Roads Organization were awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.

list of Ramsar sites

♦ Two more wetlands from India have been added to the list of Ramsar sites, taking the number of such sites in the country to 91. ♦ The latest to join the list of Ramsar sites in India are Khichan in Phalodi and Menar in Udaipur, both in Rajasthan. ♦ The aim of the Ramsar list is to develop and maintain an international network of wetlands, which are important for the conservation of global biological diversity and for sustaining human life, through the maintenance of their ecosystem components, processes and benefits. ♦ The Ramsar Convention is an international treaty for the conservation and wise use of wetlands. ♦ It is named after the Iranian city of Ramsar, on the Caspian Sea, where the treaty was signed on February 2, 1971. ♦ India ratified the convention on February 1, 1982.

Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in New Delhi

♦ India and the United Kingdom held the 17th round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in New Delhi, where the two sides reviewed the full spectrum of their bilateral ties. ♦ The meeting also marked the launch of the first Strategic Exports and Technology Cooperation Dialogue (SETCD), aimed at deepening collaboration in high-technology and strategic sectors. ♦ Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri led the Indian delegation, while the UK side was represented by Sir Oliver Robbins, Permanent Under-Secretary at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). The last FOC was held in London in May 2024. ♦ The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation across areas such as trade and investment, defence and security, counter-terrorism, climate action, green energy, science and innovation, education, and people-to-people ties.  ♦ The inaugural SETCD addressed export control mechanisms, with a view to facilitating greater technology collaboration in strategic areas.

International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS)

♦ India won the Presidency of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS). IIAS is a federation of 31 member countries, 20 national sections, and 15 academic research centres jointly collaborating on scientific research in public administration. ♦ Prime Minister Narendra Modi had nominated the Indian candidate, Secretary DARPG (Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances), V. Srinivas, for the 2025-2028 Presidency of IIAS in November 2024.  ♦ The election between India and Austria was held on 3 June 2025, in which 141 votes were polled. India secured 87 votes (61.7 per cent of the vote), while Austria received 54 votes (38.3 per cent of the vote). ♦ India has been a member of IIAS since 1998. Other key members of IIAS include Japan, China, Germany, Italy, Korea, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Switzerland, Mexico, Spain, Qatar, Morocco, and Indonesia. ♦ While the IIAS is not a formally affiliated body of the United Nations, it actively engages with the UN’s work in public administration through the UN’s Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) and the UN Public Administration Network (UNPAN).

Population Census-2027 will be conducted in two phases

♦ The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that the Population Census-2027 will be conducted in two phases, with the inclusion of caste enumeration, marking a significant step in India’s decennial census process. ♦ The reference date for the census is set for 00:00 hours on March 1, 2027, except for the Union Territory of Ladakh and the snow-bound areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, where it will be 00:00 hours on October 1, 2026. ♦ According to the ministry, a notification outlining the intent to conduct the census with these reference dates will be published in the official gazette on June 16, 2025, as per Section 3 of the Census Act, 1948. ♦ The census will be carried out under the provisions of the Census Act, 1948, and the Census Rules, 1990. ♦ The last census, conducted in 2011, was also held in two phases: Phase I (House Listing) from April 1 to September 30, 2010, and Phase II (Population Enumeration) from February 9 to February 28, 2011, with a reference date of March 1, 2011. ♦ For snow-bound areas in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, the census was conducted from September 11 to September 30, 2010, with a reference date of October 1, 2010. ♦ The Census of India 2021 was initially planned in a similar two-phase format, with Phase I scheduled for April to September 2020 and Phase II in February 2021. ♦ However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted preparations, leading to the postponement of the census despite completed groundwork in some states and Union Territories.
