Women Entrepreneurship Platform

♦ NITI Aayog’s Women Entrepreneurship Platform and DP World, announced a joint initiative ‘We Rise - Women Entrepreneurs Reimagining Inclusive and Sustainable Enterprises’. ♦ This programme under the aegis of WEP’s Award to Reward (ATR) initiative, aims to help women entrepreneurs in India to scale their businesses globally through trade facilitation, mentorship, and strategic partnerships. ♦ Under this ATR programme, women-led Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across India with high growth potential will be identified and mentored to expand globally. ♦ Using its global logistics network and trade expertise, DP World will collaborate with WEP to design interventions that enhance the export readiness of 100 women entrepreneurs, enabling them to meet global trade requirements and strengthen business capacity. ♦ Selected entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to showcase their products at Bharat Mart in Dubai—a global B2B and B2C marketplace within the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), providing Indian businesses with access to international buyers.

♦ India’s Tanvi Sharma won a silver medal in the girls’ singles event at the BWF World Junior Championships 2025 badminton tournament in Guwahati, Assam, on 19 October 2025. ♦ She lost to Thailand’s second seed Anyapat Phichitpreechasak 15-7, 15-12 in the final. ♦ Tanvi is just the third shuttler after Nehwal and Aparna Popat to won a medal in this tournament. ♦ Nehwal (gold in 2008 and silver in 2006) and Popat (silver in 1996) are the only other Indian women to have won medals at the prestigious event.

India International Science Festival (IISF)

♦ The 11th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF) will be held in Chandigarh in December 2025. ♦ The four-day event will begin on 6th December and continue till 9th. ♦ The theme for IISF-2025 will be Vigyan se Samruddhi: For Atma Nirbhar Bharat. ♦ Minister for Earth Sciences Dr Jitendra Singh said that the festival will focus on five themes, including Science,Technology and Ecology of North-West India and the Himalayan Region, Science for Society and Education and Atmanirbhar Bharat through Science and Technology. ♦ The minister also mentioned the Anusandhan National Research Foundation initiative saying that it will democratize research funding by extending support to universities and institutions across states.

The effect of the sun on the sedge

♦ Chandrayaan-2 has made the first-ever observation of the effects of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) from the Sun on the Moon’s exosphere. ♦ The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced this on 18 Octobr 2025. ♦ The observation was made using the Chandra’s Atmospheric Composition Explorer-2 (CHACE-2) instrument onboard the orbiter. ♦ During a rare solar event on May 10, 2024, a series of CMEs impacted the Moon, leading to a significant increase in the total pressure of the dayside lunar exosphere — the extremely thin atmosphere surrounding the Moon. ♦ Launched on July 22, 2019, from Sriharikota using the GSLV-MkIII-M1 rocket, Chandrayaan-2 carried eight experiment payloads. ♦ On August 20, 2019, Chandrayaan-2 was successfully inserted into the elliptical orbit around the Moon.

♦ India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam won a bronze medal in the women’s individual compound event at the Archery World Cup Final 2025 in Nanjing, the People’s Republic of China, on 18 October 2025. ♦ She became the first Indian woman compound archer to win a medal at the Archery World Cup Final. ♦ Jyothi Surekha confirmed her medal after shooting a perfect score to beat Great Britain’s Ella Gibson, the world No. 2, 150-145 in the bronze medal match. ♦ Jyothi is also the only Indian woman compound archer to have won a medal at the season-ending archery showpiece overall. ♦ Back in 2018, she teamed up with Abhishek Verma to clinch the silver in the mixed team event.

♦ Noted Chinese physicist and Nobel Laureate Chen Ning Yang, died in Beijing on 18 October 2025. ♦ He was 103 years old. He was born in Hefei, east China's Anhui Province, in 1922. ♦ In the 1940s, he went to the United States to pursue academic studies and subsequently held teaching positions. ♦ He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1957, official media here reported. ♦ In 1954, he co-authored a set of equations with the American physicist Robert Mills that turned out to be as important to physics as Einstein’s theory of relativity.

దేశవ్యాప్తంగా ఏకంగా 8.82 లక్షల ఎగ్జిక్యూషన్‌ పిటిషన్లు పెండింగ్‌లో ఉన్నట్లు సుప్రీంకోర్టు పేర్కొంది. ఈ పరిస్థితి ఆందోళనకరమని, అవాంఛనీయమని వ్యాఖ్యానించింది. కోర్టు ఉత్తర్వులు అమలయ్యేలా చూడాలని కోరుతూ డిక్రీ హోల్డర్‌లు దాఖలు చేసే ఈ తరహా పిటిషన్‌లపై 2025 మార్చి 6న తాము ఇచ్చిన ఉత్తర్వుల అమలును జస్టిస్‌ జేబీ పార్దీవాలా, జస్టిస్‌ పంకజ్‌ మిత్తల్‌ల ధర్మాసనం ఇటీవల సమీక్షించింది. గతంలో విచారణ సందర్భంగా ఎగ్జిక్యూటివ్‌ పిటిషన్‌లను 6 నెలల్లోపు పరిష్కరించేలా తమ పరిధిలోని సివిల్‌ కోర్ట్‌లకు నిర్దేశించాలని హైకోర్టులను ఆదేశించాం. అప్పటి నుంచి ఇప్పటి వరకు 3.38 లక్షల పిటిషన్‌లపై మాత్రమే తీర్పులు వెలువడ్డాయి. తీర్పు లేదా ఉత్తర్వు వచ్చాక కూడా క్షేత్ర స్థాయిలో అమలు జరగడం ఆలస్యమైతే న్యాయం జరగనట్టే అని విచారణ సందర్భంగా ధర్మాసనం పేర్కొంది.

సీఆర్‌ఎస్‌ నివేదిక

2023 జనవరి 1 నుంచి డిసెంబరు 31 వరకు దేశవ్యాప్తంగా జిల్లాలవారీగా నమోదైన జనన, మరణాల వివరాలతో ‘పౌర నమోదు వ్యవస్థ (సీఆర్‌ఎస్‌)’ తాజా నివేదికను కేంద్ర హోంశాఖ విడుదల చేసింది. దేశంలో ఎక్కడ జనన, మరణాలు సంభవించినా 21 రోజుల్లోగా సీఆర్‌ఎస్‌లో ప్రజలు వివరాలను నమోదు చేయాల్సి ఉంటుంది. దీని ప్రకారం, 2023లో తెలంగాణలో 6,52,688 జననాలు నమోదవగా, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో 7,62,093 జననాలు నమోదయ్యాయి. రాజస్థాన్, ఉత్తర్‌ప్రదేశ్, బిహార్, పశ్చిమబెంగాల్, మహారాష్ట్ర, కర్ణాటక తదితర రాష్ట్రాల్లోని పలు జిల్లాల్లో లక్షకుపైగా జననాలు నమోదు కాగా.. ఈశాన్య రాష్ట్రాల్లోని కొన్ని జిల్లాల్లో ఆ సంఖ్య వెయ్యి కూడా దాటలేదు. సిక్కింలోని నార్త్‌ (మంగన్‌) జిల్లాలో 57 జననాలు నమోదయ్యాయి.

యునెస్కో నివేదిక

ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా నేటికీ 133 మిలియన్ల (13.9 కోట్లు) మంది బాలికలకు చదువు అందట్లేదని యునెస్కో లింగ సాధికారత కొలమానం (జీఈఎం) తేల్చింది. విద్యతోసహా అన్ని అంశాల్లోమహిళలు పూర్తిగా, సమానంగా పాల్గొనడమే లక్ష్యంగా 1995లో యునెస్కో ‘బీజింగ్‌ డిక్లరేషన్‌’ చేసింది. ఈ 30 ఏళ్లలో లక్ష్యాన్ని సాధ్యమైనంతగా సాధించినప్పటికీ, తాజా ప్రకటనతో ఇంకా ఎంత మందికి విద్య అందట్లేదో స్పష్టమెంది. ప్రాథమిక, మాధ్యమిక విద్యలో బాలురు, బాలికల నిష్పత్తి సమానంగా ఉంది. దక్షిణ, మధ్య ఆసియాల్లో మాధ్యమిక విద్యలో సమానత్వం నమోదైంది. ఆఫ్రికా ఇంకా వెనుకబడి ఉన్నట్లు పేర్కొంది.
