NTET 2025 Admission Notification

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official notification for the National Teachers Eligibility Test (NTET) 2025. This examination is conducted for postgraduate candidates of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy who aspire to join the teaching profession in respective disciplines. There is no specific seat allocation as NTET is a qualifying eligibility test and not an admission test to a course or institution. Successful candidates will receive an NTET Certificate, which is valid for 10 years. Details: Disciplines: Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Homoeopathy. Eligibility:  Applicants must possess a recognized postgraduate degree in their respective fields (MD/MS) or relevant master's degrees in allied subjects along with appropriate undergraduate qualifications like B.A.M.S, B.H.M.S, B.S.M.S, or B.U.M.S. For Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani, at least 30 months of the PG program must be completed. For Homoeopathy, PG completion is mandatory. Other eligible candidates include research officers, medical officers, and experienced professionals aiming for teaching roles. Age:  There is no specified upper age limit, but candidates must meet qualification and experience requirements relevant to their intended teaching post (Assistant/Associate Professor). Examination Centre in Telugu States: Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Tirupati. Method of exam: The exam will be Computer Based (CBT). It will consist of 100 MCQs (1 mark each) and no negative marking. World Environment Day

♦ World Environment Day is observed evaey year on June 5 to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth. ♦ This day was first established in 1972 during the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, which marked the beginning of global environmental consciousness. ♦ The first celebration took place in 1973, and since then, June 5 has become a cornerstone for environmental action. ♦ 2025 theme: “Beat Plastic Pollution.”

Mahendra Dev

♦ Economist S. Mahendra Dev was appointed the new chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) on 5 June 2025 for a period of two years. ♦ Currently he is an independent director on the board of Axis Bank.  ♦ NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery was holding the position following the death of Bibek Debroy on 1 November 2024.  ♦ Dev had previously served on several government panels and in the working groups for ninth, tenth and eleventh Five Year Plans. ♦ He had also served as the chairman of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices. ♦ He received his Ph.D. from the Delhi School of Economics and did his post-doctoral research at the Yale University.

Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)

♦ India was elected to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations for the period from 2026-28. ♦ The council is at the heart of the UN’s mechanism to advance the three dimensions of sustainable development – economic, social and environmental. ♦ The ECOSOC is considered a key organ that plays an important role in recommending policies related to economic and social issues. ♦ It is also responsible for the follow-up to major UN conferences and summits, according to the UN statement. ♦ The UN Charter established ECOSO as one of the six main organs of the United Nations in 1945.

Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) on 5 June 2025

♦ India and Kyrgyzstan signed the Protocol and exchanged the Instrument of Ratification of the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) on 5 June 2025. ♦ The BIT was signed in presence of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Foreign Affairs Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Zheenbek Kulubaev Moldokanovich in New Delhi. ♦ The new Treaty replaces the earlier agreement enforced on 12th May 2000, ensuring continuity in the protection of investments between the two nations. ♦ Highlighting its benefits, the Finance Ministry said that the India-Kyrgyz BIT marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral economic relations and fostering a secure and predictable investment environment.  ♦ It aims to promote and protect interests of investors of either country in the territory of the other country with various key features. ♦ The Ministry added that the treaty is expected to further encourage cross-border investments and deepen economic cooperation between India and Kyrgyzstan.

ప్రపంచ పర్యావరణ దినోత్సవం

పర్యావరణాన్ని కాపాడే లక్ష్యంతో ఏటా జూన్‌ 5న ప్రపంచ పర్యావరణ దినోత్సవంగా నిర్వహిస్తారు. మనం నివసించే పరిసరాలే పర్యావరణం. ఇది ‘ఎన్విరాన్‌’ అనే ఫ్రెంచ్‌ భాషా పదం నుంచి వచ్చింది. దీని అర్థం మన చుట్టూ ఉన్న ప్రాంతం. ఇందులో జీవ, నిర్జీవ అంశాలు భాగంగా ఉంటాయి. భూగోళంపై సమస్త ప్రాణికోటి మనుగడకు ఆరోగ్యవంతమైన పర్యావరణం అవసరం. అయితే మానవ కార్యకలాపాలు, విపత్తులు మొదలైనవి పర్యావరణంపై ప్రతికూల ప్రభావాన్ని చూపుతున్నాయి. దీంతో పరిసరాలతోపాటు జీవవైవిధ్యం కూడా తీవ్ర ముప్పును ఎదుర్కొంటుంది. పర్యావరణ సమస్యలు, సవాళ్ల గురించి ప్రజల్లో అవగాహన కల్పించడం ఈ రోజు ముఖ్య ఉద్దేశం. చారిత్రక నేపథ్యం: యూఎన్‌ఓ ఆధ్వర్యంలో 1972, జూన్‌ 5 - 16 మధ్య స్టాక్‌హోం (స్వీడన్‌)లో మొదటి అంతర్జాతీయ పర్యావరణ సదస్సు జరిగింది. పర్యావరణ సమస్యలను పరిష్కరించేందుకు జూన్‌ 5న ‘ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి పర్యావరణ కార్యక్రమం (యూఎన్‌ఈపీ)’ను ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. దీనికి గుర్తుగా 1973 నుంచి ఏటా ఆ తేదీన ‘ప్రపంచ పర్యావరణ దినోత్సవం’గా నిర్వహిస్తున్నారు. 2025 నినాదం: End Plastic Pollution
