కేంద్ర రెవెన్యూ కార్యదర్శిగా సీనియర్‌ ఐఏఎస్‌ అధికారి అరవింద్‌ శ్రీవాస్తవ 2025, ఏప్రిల్‌ 18న నియమితులయ్యారు. 1994 బ్యాచ్‌ కర్ణాటక క్యాడర్‌కు చెందిన ఐఏఎస్‌ అధికారి అయిన శ్రీవాస్తవ, ప్రస్తుతం ప్రధాన మంత్రి కార్యాలయం (పీఎంఓ)లో అదనపు కార్యదర్శిగా పనిచేస్తున్నారు. పౌరవిమానయాన కార్యదర్శిగా సీనియర్‌ ఐఏఎస్‌ అధికారి సమీర్‌ కుమార్‌ సిన్హా నియమితులయ్యారు. ఈయన అసోం-మేఘాలయా క్యాడర్‌కు చెందినవారు.

అంతరిక్షయాత్రకు నీటి ఎలుగు

భారత అంతరిక్ష పరిశోధన సంస్థ (ఇస్రో), అమెరికాకు చెందిన యాక్సియమ్‌ స్పేస్, స్పేస్‌ ఎక్స్‌లు కలిసి 2025, మే నెలలో అంతర్జాతీయ అంతరిక్ష కేంద్రం(ఐఎస్‌ఎస్‌)లోకి పంపించే యాక్సియమ్‌ మిషన్‌-4(ఏఎక్స్‌-4)లో వ్యోమగాములతో పాటు భూమి మీద అత్యంత అరుదైన జీవి నీటి ఎలుగుబంటి (టార్డిగ్రేడ్‌) కూడా వెళ్లనుంది. యాక్సియమ్‌ మిషన్‌ను ప్రైవేట్‌ వ్యోమనౌక క్రూడ్రాగన్‌ జీ213 ద్వారా పంపించనున్నారు. మొత్తం 14-21 రోజుల పాటు ఐఎస్‌ఎస్‌లో ఉండే ఈ మిషన్‌లో నలుగురు వ్యోమగాములుంటారు. ఇందులో భారతీయ వైమానిక దళం టెస్ట్‌ పైలట్‌ గ్రూప్‌ కెప్టెన్‌ శుభాంశు శుక్లా కూడా ఒకరు.

భారతీయ సంస్కృతి, వారసత్వ ప్రతీకైన భగవద్గీత, భరతముని రచించిన నాట్యశాస్త్ర లిఖిత ప్రతులకు యునెస్కో మెమొరీ ఆఫ్‌ వరల్డ్‌ రిజిస్టర్‌లో చోటు దక్కింది. మానవ వారసత్వాన్ని భద్రంగా ఉంచే లక్ష్యంతో దీన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. ప్రపంచ వారసత్వ దినోత్సవాన్ని పురస్కరించుకుని 2025, ఏప్రిల్‌ 18న యునెస్కో ఈ విషయాన్ని వెల్లడించింది. భగవద్గీత, నాట్యశాస్త్ర లిఖిత ప్రతులతో పాటు వివిధ దేశాలకు చెందిన 74 వారసత్వ డాక్యుమెంటరీలను గుర్తించినట్లు పేర్కొంది. దీంతో మొత్తం సేకరణల సంఖ్య 570కి చేరింది. ఇప్పటివరకు మన దేశం నుంచి 14 గ్రంథాలు యునెస్కో రిజిస్టర్‌లో చోటు దక్కించుకున్నాయి.

ఎస్సీ వర్గీకరణ అమలుకు మార్గదర్శకాలు

ఎస్సీ వర్గీకరణ అమలుకు సంబంధించి నిబంధనలు, మార్గదర్శకాలను సూచిస్తూ ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌ ప్రభుత్వ ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శి కె.విజయానంద్‌ 2025, ఏప్రిల్‌ 18న ఉత్తర్వులు జారీ చేశారు. మొత్తం 15 శాతం రిజర్వేషన్లను మూడు భాగాలుగా విభజించించారు. గ్రూప్‌-1లోని రెల్లి, ఉపకులాలకు 1%, గ్రూప్‌-2లోని మాదిగ, ఉపకులాలకు 6.5%, గ్రూప్‌-3లోని మాల, ఉపకులాలకు 7.5% రిజర్వేషన్‌ వర్తించనుంది. ప్రభుత్వ ఉద్యోగాల భర్తీ, పదోన్నతులు, విద్యాసంస్థల ప్రవేశాల్లో 200 రోస్టర్‌ పాయింట్ల విధానాన్ని ప్రతిపాదించింది.

World Heritage Day

♦ World Heritage Day, also known as the International Day for Monuments and Sites, is celebrated globally on April 18 to raise awareness about the importance of preserving cultural and natural heritage across the world. ♦ World Heritage Day traces its origins back to 1982 when the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) proposed the idea of dedicating a day to celebrate and promote heritage awareness. ♦ The proposal was officially approved the following year by the General Assembly of UNESCO during its 22nd General Conference. ♦ 2025 theme: “Disaster and Conflict Resilient Heritage".

Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla

♦ Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is set to travel to the International Space Station (ISS) next month (May) as part of the Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4), Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on 18 April 2025. ♦ The mission will make Shukla the first Indian to stay aboard the ISS and work in microgravity conditions. His flight comes nearly 40 years after Rakesh Sharma became the first Indian in space in 1984.  ♦ The Indian astronaut will launch to the Space Station with Axiom Space on a 14-day-long mission to live and work in zero gravity. Shubhanshu will be conducting several experiments during his stay and one of the most important among them is the Voyager Tardigrades experiment. ♦ Tardigrades, also known as water bears or moss piglets, are tiny, water-dwelling micro-animals famous for their incredible survival abilities. ♦ They were first discovered in 1773 by German zoologist Johann August Ephraim Goeze. The name "Tardigrada" means "slow stepper" in Latin, referring to their sluggish, bear-like movement. ♦ These creatures are usually between 0.3 mm to 0.5 mm long, so a microscope is needed to see them. ♦ Tardigrades can be found almost everywhere on Earth, including mosses, lichens, soil, leaf litter, freshwater, marine environments, high mountains, deep seas, hot springs, and even polar ice. ♦ The experiment will examine the revival of dormant tardigrades, count the number of eggs laid and hatched during a mission, and compare the gene expression patterns of space flown v/s ground control populations.

United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)

♦ India’s economy is projected to grow by 6.5% in 2025, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) report said. ♦ India was listed among the countries that are propelling growth with higher government expenditure and monetary policy stimulus in the report titled ‘Trade and Development Foresights 2025. ♦The report projected China’s growth rate at 4.4 percent, while the US economy is expected to grow at 1 percent. ♦ The growth for the European Union has also been projected at 1 percent, although France, Germany and Italy are all expected to record below 1 percent growth.  ♦ Similarly, Japan’s economic growth rate is expected to come down to a mere 0.5 percent.
