ప్రపంచ మేధో సంపత్తి దినోత్సవం

ప్రజల్లో సృజనాత్మకత, నూతన ఆవిష్కరణలను ప్రోత్సహించే లక్ష్యంతో ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా ఏటా ఏప్రిల్‌ 26న ప్రపంచ మేధో సంపత్తి దినోత్సవాన్ని (World Intellectual Property Day) నిర్వహిస్తారు. పేటెంట్లు, కాపీరైట్స్, ట్రేడ్‌ మార్క్స్, డిజైన్లపై ప్రజల్లో అవగాహన కల్పించడంతోపాటు అవి రోజువారీ జీవితంపై ఎలాంటి ప్రభావం చూపుతాయో తెలియజేయడం ఈ రోజు ముఖ్య ఉద్దేశం. చారిత్రక నేపథ్యం: 1967 జూన్‌ 11 నుంచి జులై 14 వరకు స్వీడన్‌లోని స్టాక్‌హోమ్‌లో యూఎన్‌ఓ సర్వసభ్య సమావేశం నిర్వహించారు. ఇందులో ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా మేధో సంపత్తి రక్షణ, సృజనాత్మక కార్యకలాపాలకు తీసుకోవాల్సిన చర్యలపై చర్చించి, డబ్ల్యూఐపీఓ కన్వెన్షన్‌ను ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని భావించాయి. ఇది 1970, ఏప్రిల్‌ 26 నుంచి అమల్లోకి వచ్చింది. 1974 నుంచి యూఎన్‌ఓకు అనుబంధ సంస్థగా పనిచేస్తోంది. ప్రస్తుతం డబ్ల్యూఐపీఓలో 193 సభ్య దేశాలు ఉన్నాయి. డబ్ల్యూఐపీఓ కన్వెన్షన్‌ అమల్లోకి వచ్చిన తేదీని పురస్కరించుకుని ఏప్రిల్‌ 26న ‘ప్రపంచ మేధో సంపత్తి దినోత్సవం’గా జరుపుకోవాలని 2000లో డబ్ల్యూఐపీఓ తీర్మానించింది. అప్పటి నుంచి ఏటా దీన్ని నిర్వహిస్తున్నారు. 2025 నినాదం: “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP”

ప్రపంచ బ్యాంకు నివేదిక

భారత్‌లో ఉద్యోగాలు, ఉపాధి, నిరుద్యోగం, పేదరికం అంశాలపై ప్రపంచ బ్యాంకు నివేదికను విడుదల చేసింది. 2021-22 ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరం నుంచి దేశంలో పనిచేసే వయసులో ఉన్న జనాభా కంటే ఉద్యోగ వృద్ధి రేటు పెరిగిందని వివరించింది. అలాగే శ్రామిక శక్తిలో మహిళలు భాగస్వామ్యం వృద్ధి చెందుతున్నట్లు పేర్కొంది. ఈ నివేదిక ప్రకారం, 2021-22 ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరం నుంచి దేశంలో ఉద్యోగ వృద్ధి పెరిగింది. 2024-25 ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరం మొదటి త్రైమాసికంలో పట్టణ నిరుద్యోగం 6.6 శాతానికి పడిపోయింది. ఇది 2017-18 తర్వాత నమోదైన అత్యల్ప నిరుద్యోగిత రేటు. 2018-19 తర్వాత మొదటిసారిగా ఎక్కువ మంది పురుషులు ఉపాధి కోసం గ్రామీణ ప్రాంతాల నుంచి నగరాలకు వలస వెళ్తున్నారు. గ్రామీణ మహిళలు వ్యవసాయ రంగంలో ఎక్కువగా ఉపాధిని పొందుతున్నారు.

ఎం.జి.ఎస్‌.నారాయణన్‌ కన్నుమూత

భారత చరిత్ర పరిశోధన మండలి (ఐసీహెచ్‌ఆర్‌) మాజీ అధ్యక్షుడు, ప్రముఖ చరిత్రకారుడు ఎం.జి.ఎస్‌.నారాయణన్‌ (93) కేరళలోని కోళికోడ్‌ జిల్లా, మలపరంబలో 2025, ఏప్రిల్‌ 26న మరణించారు. ఆయన 1976-1990ల మధ్య కాలికట్‌ విశ్వవిద్యాలయ చరిత్ర విభాగాధిపతిగా విధులు నిర్వహించారు. 2001-2003 మధ్య ఐసీహెచ్‌ఆర్‌ అధ్యక్షుడిగా వ్యవహరించారు.

Hubballi Airport

♦ Hubballi Airport in Karnataka was awarded the Platinum Recognition--the highest level of honour--in the Green Airports Recognition 2025 by Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific and Middle East. ♦ Hubballi Airport was awarded in the category "Sustainable Energy at Airports" among airports handling less than 6 million passengers per annum. ♦ The recognition celebrates AAI's innovative 8 MW solar power plant project commissioned at Hubballi Airport in December 2022, which has been a pioneering step towards energy self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability. ♦ The plant is the first of its kind in India to supply renewable energy to multiple airports within a state, including Hubballi, Belagavi, and Mysuru airports, with plans to extend to upcoming airport terminals in Karnataka. ♦ The solar power plant is capable of generating over 11 million units of clean electricity annually, contributing to an estimated lifetime reduction of 215,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)

♦ The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully conducted a short duration hot test of the semicryogenic engine at its facility in the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri. ♦ The Engine Power Head Test Article, encompassing all engine systems except the thrust chamber, was subjected to a hot test for a duration of 3.5 seconds, that validated the engine start-up sequence. ♦ During the test, the engine was successfully ignited and operated up to 60% of its rated power level, demonstrating stable and controlled performance.
