State Bank of India (SBI)

♦ State Bank of India (SBI) and Bank of India (BoI), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on a Centre of Excellence in Strategic Partnership. This collaboration aims to strengthen leadership and expertise in project financing across India while encouraging innovation and teamwork in the banking sector. ♦ The Centre of Excellence is basically a shared workspace and knowledge hub where experts from both banks collaborate. It operates on three main ideas. ♦ First is co-financing. Bank of India and SBI will jointly fund big projects. Second is strengthening the brand. Third is training people.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)

♦ The Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Praveen Kumar, took on additional charge of the Border Security Force (BSF) Director General following the retirement of the incumbent Daljit Singh Chawdhary. ♦ Chawdhary is a 1990-batch IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, handed over the responsibilities to Kumar, a 1993-batch officer of the West Bengal cadre, at a BSF camp in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. ♦ Before taking charge as the 35th Director General of the ITBP in 2025 October, Kumar held various important positions at both the state and central levels. He served in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) from 2009. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Midnapore Range, where he led security forces in the Naxal-affected areas of Midnapore and surrounding areas.

♦ The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed Usha Janakiraman as Executive Director (ED). Prior to being promoted as ED, Janakiraman was serving as Chief General Manager-in-charge, Department of Regulation, Central Office, Mumbai. ♦ She has experience of more than three decades in the RBI having worked in the areas of regulation, external investment and operations, banking supervision, public debt management, currency management and other areas in the Central bank. ♦ As Executive Director, Janakiraman will look after the Department of Supervision (Risk, Analytics and Vulnerability Assessment). She is a Chartered Accountant. ♦ The central bank appointed Sonali Sen Gupta and Sanjay Kumar Hansda as executive directors in October 2025.

The 14th edition of EKUVERIN

♦ The 14th edition of EKUVERIN, the joint military exercise involving the Indian Army and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), began in Thiruvananthapuram on 2 December 2025. The exercise concludes on 15 December 2025. The Indian Army contingent of 45 personnel from Southern Command is participating alongside an equivalent strength of the Maldivian contingent. ♦ The Exercise aims to enhance interoperability while carrying out counterinsurgency and Counter Terrorism operations in semi-urban, jungle and coastal terrain. ♦ EKUVERIN meaning ‘Friends’ is a bilateral annual exercise conducted alternatively in India and Maldives. Ekuverin is one of the three major joint exercises between India and the Maldives. ♦ The two bilateral exercises are “Ekuverin” and “Ekatha” and trilateral- “Dosti”, which includes Sri Lanka. ♦ Conducted alternately in both countries since 2009, EKUVERIN continues to be a shining example of India's neighbourhood first policy and its commitment to building enduring defence partnerships with friendly nations.

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)

♦ The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted a high-speed rocket-sled test of a fighter aircraft escape system at the Rail Track Rocket Sled (RTRS) facility of the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Chandigarh on 2 December 2025. The test validated canopy severance, ejection sequencing, and complete aircrew recovery. ♦ The test reached a controlled velocity of 800 km/h and validated canopy severance, ejection sequencing and full aircrew recovery. ♦ The DRDO conducted the test in collaboration with the Aeronautical Development Agency and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

సమాజంలో వేగంగా విస్తరిస్తోన్న వ్యాధులకు, మరణాలకు కాలుష్యమే ప్రధాన కారణం. ప్రధాన పారిశ్రామిక విపత్తుల్లో ఒకటైన భోపాల్‌ గ్యాస్‌ దుర్ఘటనలో మరణించిన వారి జ్ఞాపకార్థం మన దేశంలో ఏటా డిసెంబరు 2న ‘జాతీయ కాలుష్య నియంత్రణ దినోత్సవం’గా (National Pollution Control Day) నిర్వహిస్తారు. పర్యావరణానికి నష్టం కలిగించే తీవ్రమైన కాలుష్య కారకాల గురించి ప్రజల్లో అవగాహన కల్పించడంతోపాటు పారిశ్రామిక విపత్తుల నివారణకు అనుసరించాల్సిన చర్యల అవసరాన్ని చాటిచెప్పడం ఈ రోజు ముఖ్య ఉద్దేశం. చారిత్రక నేపథ్యం 1984 డిసెంబరు 2, 3 తేదీల్లో మధ్యప్రదేశ్‌లోని భోపాల్‌లో ఉన్న యూనియన్‌ కార్బైడ్‌ పురుగుమందుల కర్మాగారంలోని ట్యాంకు నుంచి 40-45 టన్నుల అత్యంత ప్రమాదకర మిథైల్‌ ఐసోసైనేట్‌ (ఎంఐసీ) వాయువు లీకైంది. పరిశ్రమ చుట్టూ 40 కి.మీ. ప్రాంతంలోని జీవులు దీని ప్రభావానికి లోనయ్యారు. తొలి 3 రోజుల్లో దాదాపు 10 వేలమంది మృత్యువాతపడగా.. మొత్తంగా పాతిక వేలమంది మరణించినట్లు అంచనా. గాయపడ్డవారి సంఖ్య దాదాపు 6 లక్షలు. ఆ సంఖ్య నాటి మొత్తం నగర జనాభాలో మూడింట రెండొంతులు. ప్రపంచ పారిశ్రామికరంగ చరిత్రలో అత్యంత ఘోర విపత్తుగా భోపాల్‌ గ్యాస్‌ దుర్ఘటనను పేర్కొంటారు. * ఈ ప్రమాదం కారణంగా ప్రభావితులైన ప్రజలను స్మరించుకునే ఉద్దేశంతో మన దేశంలో ఏటా నవంబరు 2న ‘జాతీయ కాలుష్య నియంత్రణ దినోత్సవం’గా జరుపుతున్నారు. కాలుష్యం, పారిశ్రామిక భద్రత గురించి అవగాహన కలిపంచడం ఈ రోజు లక్ష్యం.

హెరాన్‌ మార్క్‌-2 డ్రోన్లు

హైస్పీడ్‌ రాకెట్‌ స్లెడ్‌ టెస్ట్‌

యుద్ధవిమానంలో సాంకేతిక లోపం తలెత్తినప్పుడు దాని నుంచి బయటపడేందుకు పైలట్‌కు సహాయపడే ఎస్కేప్‌ వ్యవస్థను రక్షణ పరిశోధన, అభివృద్ధి సంస్థ (డీఆర్‌డీవో) విజయవంతంగా పరీక్షించింది. పైలట్‌ను క్షేమంగా వెలుపలికి తీసుకురావడం సహా భద్రతకు సంబంధించిన కీలక అంశాలను ఈ సందర్భంగా ధ్రువీకరించుకున్నట్లు రక్షణ మంత్రిత్వశాఖ తెలిపింది. దీంతో సొంతంగా ఇలాంటి పరీక్ష సామర్థ్యాన్ని కలిగిన అతికొద్ది దేశాల సరసన భారత్‌ చేరింది. హైస్పీడ్‌ రాకెట్‌ స్లెడ్‌ టెస్ట్‌ అనే ఈ పరీక్షను చండీగఢ్‌లో డీఆర్‌డీవోకు చెందిన టెర్మినల్‌ బాలిస్టిక్స్‌ రీసెర్చ్‌ ల్యాబ్‌ (టీబీఆర్‌ఎల్‌)లో నిర్వహించారు. ఇందులో తేజస్‌ యుద్ధవిమానానికి సంబంధించిన ముందు భాగాన్ని ఉపయోగించారు.

విమాన విడిభాగాల (ఏరోస్పేస్‌ కాంపొనెంట్స్‌) పరిశ్రమ

2024-25 ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరంలో మనదేశం 6.9 బిలియన్‌ డాలర్ల(దాదాపు రూ.61,410 కోట్లు) విలువైన విమాన విడిభాగాలను ఎగుమతి చేసింది. ఈ పరిశ్రమ 2030 నాటికి 22 బిలియన్‌ డాలర్ల (సుమారు రూ.1.95 లక్షల కోట్లు)కు చేరుకుంటుందని ప్రభుత్వ అంచనా. ఎయిర్‌బస్‌ మనదేశం నుంచి ఏటా 1.5 బిలియన్‌ డాలర్ల విలువైన విడిభాగాలను కొనుగోలు చేస్తోంది. 2030 నాటికి దీన్ని 2 బిలియన్‌ డాలర్లకు పెంచుకోవాలనేది ఎయిర్‌బస్‌ ప్రణాళిక. ఫ్రాన్స్‌ దిగ్గజ సంస్థ అయిన శాఫ్రన్‌ దాదాపు రూ.1300 కోట్ల పెట్టుబడితో హైదరాబాద్‌లో తన తొలి ఇంజిన్‌ నిర్వహణ, రిపేర్, ఓవర్‌హాలింగ్‌ (ఎంఆర్‌ఓ) సదుపాయాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేసింది. మనదేశ విమానయాన సంస్థలు దాదాపు 1500 శాఫ్రన్‌ ఇంజిన్ల కోసం ఆర్డర్లు ఇచ్చింది.
