The National Highways Authority

♦ The National Highways Authority of India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Commercial Vehicle Aggregator platforms to enhance ease of commuting for the commercial vehicle drivers and fleet operators in New Delhi. The MoU seeks to leverage interoperable, technology-driven solutions to improve safety, efficiency, and overall user experience for commercial vehicle drivers and fleet operators travelling on National Highways. ♦ As part of the agreement, the commercial vehicle aggregator platforms will integrate the Rajmargyatra App to ensure timely and actionable safety communication and a dedicated Call 1033 feature within their applications, enabling one-click access to the National Highway Helpline.

Jal Jeevan Mission

♦ The Union Cabinet approved the extension of Jal Jeevan Mission up to December 2028 with an enhanced outlay of Rs.8.7 lakh crore. The project was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 to provide safe and adequate drinking water through tap connections to all households in rural India. ♦ For restructuring JJM, focusing on structural reforms, the Cabinet has approved an enhancement of the total outlay to Rs.8.69 lakh crore, with a total central assistance of Rs.3.59 lakh crore as against from Rs.2.08 lakh crore approved in 2019-20. ♦ However the programme, while originally envisioned 100% coverage by 2024, has been stuck at around 81% coverage since 2025. ♦ A uniform national digital framework called "Sujalam Bharat" shall be instituted, under which every village shall be assigned a unique Sujal Gaon or Service Area ID, digitally mapping the complete drinking water supply system from source to tap.

Air Droppable Container ‘ADC-150’

♦ The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy have successfully conducted four in-flight release trials of the indigenous Air Droppable Container ‘ADC-150’ from a Boeing P-8I Poseidon aircraft off the coast of Goa. The ADC-150, designed and developed in India, is capable of delivering payloads of up to 150 kilograms. The system is intended to strengthen the Navy’s operational logistics capabilities, enabling rapid delivery of essential supplies such as equipment, critical stores and medical assistance to naval vessels deployed far from the coastline. ♦ According to Ministry of Defence (MoD), the system will allow quick response to ships in distress or operating in deep-sea environments, where conventional supply routes may not be feasible. ♦ The project was led by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory in Visakhapatnam, which served as the nodal laboratory for the development programme.
