Telangana State-State Eligibility Test 2025

On behalf of the Government of Telangana, Osmania University conducts the Telangana State- State Eligibility Test (TG-SET 2025) to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and Lecturer in universities and colleges of Telangana State. Details: Disciplines (Subjects): TG-SET 2025 will be conducted in 29 subjects, including: Geography, Chemical Sciences, Commerce, Computer Science & Applications, Economics, Education, English, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Journalism & Mass Communication, Management, Hindi, History, Law, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Physical Education, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Telugu, Urdu, Library & Information Science, Sanskrit, Social Work, Environmental Science, and Linguistics. Eligibility: Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master's Degree (M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., MBA, MLISc, M.Ed., M.PEd., MCJ, LLM, MCA, M.E/M.Tech (CSE & IT)) are eligible. For BC/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates, a minimum of 50% marks is required. Final-year postgraduate students can also apply provisionally. Age: There is no upper age limit to apply for TG-SET 2025. Rabindranath Tagore statue unveiled in China

♦ A bust of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore was unveiled at the Indian Embassy in Beijing on 26 October 2025. ♦ The sculpture has been carved by the famous Chinese sculptor Yuan Xikun. ♦ It was unveiled on the sidelines of a symposium titled Sangamam – A Confluence of Indian Philosophical Traditions, organised by the Embassy.

Three advanced hovercrafts inducted into Pakistan Navy

♦ Pakistan inducted three state-of-the-art hovercrafts in its navy to augment the naval capability and strengthen the sea frontier. ♦ The induction of the 2400 TD Hovercraft was carried out during the visit of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, to forward posts in Creeks Area to review operational preparedness and combat readiness.

Nuclear-powered cruise missile

♦ Russia has successfully tested its nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile, a nuclear-capable weapon. ♦ The test was accompanied by an extensive nuclear forces drill, marking a high point in Moscow’s show of military readiness. ♦ The ‘Burevestnik’ cruise was in the air for 15 hours and covered 14,000 kilometres during successful trials.  ♦ The 9M730 Burevestnik, or Storm Petrel, is a nuclear-powered, nuclear-capable cruise missile first unveiled by Russia in 2018. ♦ It is claimed to have an unlimited range and the ability to take unpredictable flight paths, making it difficult to intercept. ♦ Nato has designated it as the SSC-X-9 Skyfall.

47th ASEAN Summit

♦ Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually participated in the 47th ASEAN Summit 2025 on 26 October 2025. ♦ This was Prime Minister’s 12th participation in the India-ASEAN Summit. In his address, Prime Minister congratulated Timor Leste on becoming the 11th Member of ASEAN. ♦ Malaysia, as the Chair of ASEAN, hosting ths Summit and Related Summits under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability” at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). The summit concludes on 28 October 2025. ♦ Philippines will be the Chair of ASEAN in 2026. India began formal engagement with ASEAN in 1992 as a "Sectoral Dialogue Partner" (Secretary-level interaction) and subsequently as a "Dialogue Partner" in 1995. ♦ The ASEAN was established in Thailand’s Bangkok in 1967, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Brunei Darussalam joined ASEAN in 1984, followed by Vietnam in 1995, Laos and Myanmar in 1997, and Cambodia in 1999.

world’s fastest high-speed train

♦ China’s latest bullet train, the CR450, has become the world’s fastest high-speed train, hitting a top speed of 453 km/h in trial runs. ♦ The train is currently undergoing pre-service tests on the high-speed rail route between Shanghai and Chengdu.  ♦ The CR450 is designed to run at a commercial speed of 400 km/h, which is 50 km/h faster than the current CR400 Fuxing trains in service. ♦ These older models operate at a speed of 350 km/h, which already ranks among the fastest globally. ♦ The CR450 can accelerate from 0 to 350 km/h in just 4 minutes and 40 seconds. ♦ This is 100 seconds faster than the CR400, showing just how quickly it can reach top speeds. ♦ During trials, two CR450 trains crossed paths at a combined speed of 896 km/h, setting a new world record for passing speeds. ♦ Engineers are currently testing the train for 600,000 trouble-free kilometers before passenger operations begin.
