వరల్డ్‌ మలేరియా డే

వరల్డ్‌ మలేరియా డేని ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా ఏటా ఏప్రిల్‌ 25న నిర్వహిస్తారు. మలేరియాను నిర్మూలించడం, దాని వ్యాప్తిని నివారించడంపై ప్రజల్లో అవగాహన కల్పించడం ఈ రోజు ముఖ్య ఉద్దేశం. ఇటాలియన్‌లో మలేరియా అంటే చెడుగాలి అని అర్థం. పూర్వం ఈ వ్యాధి చెడుగాలి వల్ల సంభవిస్తుందని భావించారు. అయితే ఇది ప్లాస్మోడియం అనే పరాన్నజీవి వల్ల సోకుతుంది. ఆడ ఎనాఫిలిస్‌ దోమ దీనికి ప్రధాన ఆతిథేయి కాగా మానవుడు ద్వితీయ ఆతిథేయి. చారిత్రక నేపథ్యం: ఆఫ్రికన్‌ దేశాల్లో మలేరియా బెడద ఎక్కువ. ఈ వ్యాధిపై ప్రజల్లో విస్తృత ప్రచారం కల్పించేందుకు 2001 నుంచి అక్కడి ప్రభుత్వాలు ఏప్రిల్‌ 25న ‘ఆఫ్రికా మలేరియా డే’ నిర్వహించేవి. ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా మలేరియాను నియంత్రించాలనే ఉద్దేశంతో డబ్ల్యూహెచ్‌ఓ 2007, మేలో జరిగిన 60వ అసెంబ్లీలో ఏప్రిల్‌ 25న ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా ‘వరల్డ్‌ మలేరియా డే’గా జరుపుకోవాలని తీర్మానించింది. 2008 నుంచి ఏటా దీన్ని నిర్వహిస్తున్నారు.

భారత ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థ వృద్ధి 6.5%

ప్రస్తుత ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరంలో (2025-26) భారత ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థ 6.5% వృద్ధిని నమోదు చేయొచ్చని అంతర్జాతీయ ఏజెన్సీ ఈవై అంచనా వేసింది. ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా వాణిజ్య ఉద్రిక్తతలు తీవ్రతరమవుతున్నా.. చమురు ధరలు తక్కువగా ఉండడంతో, ద్రవ్యోల్బణ ఒత్తిడి తగ్గి, దేశీయ వృద్ధికి మద్దతుగా నిలుస్తుందని పేర్కొంది. ఈవై విడుదల చేసిన ‘ఈవై ఎకానమీ వాచ్‌’ నివేదిక ఈ విషయాలు పేర్కొంది.

స్క్రామ్‌జెట్‌ ఇంజిన్‌ పరీక్ష దిగ్విజయం

కొత్తతరం హైపర్‌సోనిక్‌ క్షిపణి అస్త్రాల ఇంజిన్లలో వాడే స్క్రామ్‌జెట్‌ కంబస్టర్‌ను భారత్‌ విజయవంతంగా పరీక్షించింది. హైదరాబాద్‌లో రక్షణ పరిశోధన, అభివృద్ధి సంస్థ (డీఆర్‌డీవో)కు చెందిన డీఆర్‌డీఎల్‌ ప్రయోగశాలలో ఈ పరీక్ష జరిగింది.  స్క్రామ్‌జెట్‌ కంబస్టర్‌ను నేలపై వెయ్యి సెకన్లకుపైగా పరీక్షించారు. ఇది విజయవంతం కావడంతో.. గగనతల పరీక్షకు అనువైన పూర్తిస్థాయి కంబస్టర్‌ టెస్టింగ్‌కు మార్గం సుగమమైనట్లు రక్షణ శాఖ 2025, ఏప్రిల్‌ 25న పేర్కొంది.

కస్తూరి రంగన్‌ కన్నుమూత

భారత అంతరిక్ష పరిశోధన సంస్థ(ఇస్రో) మాజీ అధిపతి, పద్మ విభూషణ్‌ డాక్టర్‌ కృష్ణస్వామి కస్తూరి రంగన్‌ (84) 2025, ఏప్రిల్‌ 25న బెంగళూరులో మరణించారు. 1940 అక్టోబరు 24న కేరళలోని ఎర్నాకులంలో జన్మించిన కస్తూరి రంగన్‌ దాదాపు దశాబ్దం పాటు ఇస్రో ఛైర్మన్‌గా సేవలందించారు. అంతరిక్షానికి సంబంధించి పలు విభాగాల్లో 250కి పైగా పరిశోధనా పత్రాలు ప్రచురించారు. యూపీఏ ప్రభుత్వ హయాంలో కస్తూరి రంగన్‌ ప్రణాళిక సంఘం సభ్యుడిగా పనిచేశారు. జాతీయ విద్యా విధానం(ఎన్‌ఈపీ) 2020 ముసాయిదా కమిటీకి అధ్యక్షత వహించారు. కొత్త జాతీయ పాఠ్య ప్రణాళిక చట్టాన్ని అభివృద్ధి చేయడానికి 12 మందితో ఏర్పడిన స్టీరింగ్‌ కమిటీకి నాయకత్వం వహించారు. 1982లో పద్మశ్రీ, 1992లో పద్మభూషణ్, 2000లో పద్మ విభూషణ్‌ పురస్కారాలు అందుకున్నారు.

♦ The Inaugural Army-to-Army Staff Talks between the Indian Army and the Royal Saudi Land Forces (RSLF) took place in New Delhi. ♦ The discussions focused on the Annual Defence Cooperation Plan covering Joint Exercise Sada Tanseeq, training, military education, domain expert exchanges and engagements in areas of mutual interest.  ♦ Both sides also explored avenues of collaboration in operational logistics, battlefield management systems and niche technologies to enhance interoperability and capability development.
