ఉగాండా అధ్యక్షుడు యోవేరి ముసెవేని ఏడోసారి దేశాధ్యక్ష స్థానాన్ని కైవసం చేసుకున్నారు. పోలైన మొత్తం ఓట్లలో ఆయనకు 71.65 శాతం దక్కాయని ఆ దేశ ఎలక్షన్ కమిషన్ 2026, జనవరి 17న వెల్లడించింది. ఆయన ప్రత్యర్థి బాబి వైన్ 24.72 శాతం ఓట్లు పొందారు.

దేశంలోనే మొట్టమొదటిదిగా హావ్డా-గువాహటి మధ్య నడిచే వందేభారత్ స్లీపర్ (ఏసీ) రైలును ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోదీ 2026, జనవరి 17న మాల్దా టౌన్ రైల్వేస్టేషన్లో ప్రారంభించారు. దీంతోపాటు న్యూజల్పాయ్గుడి నుంచి నాగర్కోయిల్, తిరుచిరాపల్లిలకు; అలీపుర్ద్వార్ నుంచి బెంగళూరు, ముంబయి (పన్వెల్)లకు వెళ్లే నాలుగు అధునాతన ‘అమృత్భారత్ ఎక్స్ప్రెస్’ రైళ్లకు వర్చువల్గా పచ్చజెండా చూపించారు. గువాహటి నుంచి హావ్డాకు వచ్చే వందేభారత్ స్లీపర్ రైలుకు కూడా ఆయన వర్చువల్గా జెండా ఊపారు.
