అంతర్జాతీయ ఆటల దినోత్సవం

ఆటల ప్రాముఖ్యాన్ని ప్రపంచానికి తెలియజేసే లక్ష్యంతో ఏటా జూన్‌ 11న ‘అంతర్జాతీయ ఆటల దినోత్సవం’గా నిర్వహిస్తారు. మానవాభివృద్ధిలో ఆటలు ముఖ్య భూమిక పోషిస్తాయి. వీటిని కేవలం వినోదానికి సంబంధించిన విషయంగానే చెప్పలేం. పిల్లల్లో శారీరక, మానసిక ఎదుగుదలకు ఇవి ఎంతగానో తోడ్పడతాయి. కొత్త విషయాలను నేర్చుకోవడం అలవడుతుంది. దీంతోపాటు పిల్లలు ఇతరులతో కలిసి ఆడటం వల్ల సంబంధాలను మెరుగుపరచుకోవడం, నాయకత్వ లక్షణాలను పెంపొందించుకోవడం, సవాళ్లను అధిగమించడం లాంటివి నేర్చుకుంటారు. వారి ఊహా శక్తిని - సృజనాత్మకతను వ్యక్తపరచడానికి, అభివృద్ధి చేయడానికి ఆటలు వేదికగా ఉంటాయి. తల్లిదండ్రులు శారీరక శ్రమ, ఆలోచనా శక్తిని పెంపొందించే ఆటలు ఆడేలా తమ పిల్లలను ప్రోత్సహించేలా చేయడం ఈ రోజు ముఖ్య ఉద్దేశం.  చారిత్రక నేపథ్యం: 1989లో ఐరాస జనరల్‌ అసెంబ్లీ ఆటలు ఆడటాన్ని పిల్లల ప్రాథమిక హక్కుగా పేర్కొంది. అయితే ప్రస్తుతం ఆటలు ఆడేవారి సంఖ్య బాగా పడిపోయింది. 2023లో డెన్మార్క్‌కు చెందిన ఎల్‌ఈజీఓ ఫౌండేషన్, యునైటెడ్‌ నేషన్స్‌ చిల్డ్రన్స్‌ ఫండ్‌ (యునిసెఫ్‌), వరల్డ్‌ ఎకనామిక్‌ ఫోరం (డబ్ల్యూఈఎఫ్‌) సంయుక్తంగా 36 దేశాల్లోని 25 వేలకు పైగా చిన్నారులపై సర్వే నిర్వహించాయి. దీని ప్రకారం, 73% పిల్లలు ఆటలకు దూరంగా ఉన్నారు. కేవలం 30% తల్లిదండ్రులు మాత్రమే తమ పిల్లలు ఆడుకునేలా ప్రోత్సహిస్తున్నారని తేలింది. ఎల్‌ఈజీఓ, యునిసెఫ్‌ తమ నివేదికను ఐరాసకు అందించి ఆటల ప్రాముఖ్యం పెరిగేలా తగు చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని సూచించాయి. 2024, మార్చి 25న సమావేశమైన ఐరాస జనరల్‌ అసెంబ్లీ పిల్లల జీవితాల్లో ఆటల ప్రాముఖ్యాన్ని చాటేలా ఏటా జూన్‌ 11న అంతర్జాతీయ ఆటల దినోత్సవాన్ని జరపాలని తీర్మానించింది. దీనికి 140 దేశాల ఆమోదం కూడా లభించింది. 2024 నుంచి ఏటా దీన్ని నిర్వహిస్తున్నారు.  2025 నినాదం: "Choose play - every day".

సూర్యుడ్ని పోలిన వైఎస్‌ఇఎస్‌-1 అనే నక్షత్రం చుట్టూ తిరుగుతున్న రెండు బాహ్య గ్రహాలను జేమ్స్‌ వెబ్‌ అంతరిక్ష టెలిస్కోప్‌ సాయంతో శాస్త్రవేత్తలు కనిపెట్టారు. వాటికి వైఎస్‌ఇఎస్‌ 1బి, 1సి అని పేర్లు పెట్టారు. సౌర కుటుంబానికి వెలుపల గ్రహాలు ఎలా ఏర్పడుతున్నాయో తెలుసుకోవడానికి జేమ్స్‌ వెబ్‌ అంతరిక్ష టెలిస్కోప్‌ ఉపకరిస్తోంది. శాస్త్రవేత్తలు వీటిని బాహ్య గ్రహాలుగా పరిగణిస్తారు. సుమారు 1.67 కోట్ల సంవత్సరాల క్రితం ఏర్పడిన ఈ గ్రహాలు ఇప్పటికీ వేడిగా ఉన్నాయి.

planetary system orbiting a youthful star YSES-1

♦ Astronomers have discovered a planetary system orbiting a youthful star YSES-1 located 300 light-years away, using the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).   ♦ The system's two planets, YSES-1 b and YSES-1 c, are packed with coarse, rough, and frankly irritating silica material. ♦ Astronomers say this discovery around a star that is just 16.7 million years old could hint at how the planets and moons of our 4.6 billion-year-old solar system took shape. ♦ As both planets are gas giants, they could offer astronomers an opportunity to study the real-time evolution of planets like Jupiter and Saturn. ♦ One of these extrasolar planets, or "exoplanets," YSES-1 c, has a mass around 14 times the mass of Jupiter. On YSES-1 c, this silica matter is located in clouds in its atmosphere, which gives it a reddish hue and creates sandy rains that fall inward towards its core.

♦ According to a report by Cushman & Wakefield, Mumbai has secured the 6th spot among 97 global cities in terms of under-construction data centre capacity, overtaking major hubs like London and Dublin. ♦ The report also highlights Pune and Bengaluru, which rank 4th and 5th respectively among Asia-Pacific’s emerging data centre hubs. ♦ Apart from its global ranking, Mumbai ranks as the 7th established data center market in the Asia Pacific region. ♦ At the end of 2024 the city had 335 MW of data center capacity under construction, which, once completed, will expand its operational capacity by 62%.  ♦ The report covers 97 global markets, highlights power access, land availability, and infrastructure as key factors shaping data center development.   ♦ Virginia is in first position with 1,834 MW data centre capacity under construction, followed by Atlanta (1,078 MW), Columbus (546 MW), Dallas (500 MW) and Phoenix (478 MW).
