క్రీడల్లో సేవలకు గాను అందించే ధ్యాన్‌చంద్‌ జీవిత కాల పురస్కారం స్థానంలో 2024 నుంచి నుంచి కొత్తగా అర్జున జీవిత కాల పురస్కారాన్ని అందచేయనున్నారు. ఈ విషయాన్ని కేంద్ర క్రీడా మంత్రిత్వ శాఖ 2024, అక్టోబరు 24న ప్రకటించింది. దేశంలో క్రీడా పురస్కారాలను హేతుబద్ధం చేయడానికి ఈ నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నట్లు తెలిపింది. దిగ్గజ హాకీ ఆటగాడు, దివంగత మేజర్‌ ధ్యాన్‌చంద్‌ పేరు మీద 2002లో ధ్యాన్‌చంద్‌ జీవిత కాల పురస్కారాన్ని ప్రవేశపెట్టారు.
