♦ Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the new complex of India's first Biomanufacturing Institute, "BRIC-National Agri-Food Bio-Manufacturing Institute" (BRIC-NABI) on 28 October 2024. The facility aims to transform India’s agri-food sector through advanced biotechnology. ♦ BRIC-NABI is the result of a strategic merger between the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) and the Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB). ♦ The institute aims to bridge the gap between research and commercialization, facilitating pilot-scale production and bringing innovative agricultural technologies to the market.

♦ Senior IAS officer Vipin Kumar took charge as the Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on 28 October 2024. He is a 1996 batch officer from the Bihar cadre. ♦ He was an Additional Secretary in the Department of School Education & Literacy at the Union Ministry of Education. ♦ The Airports Authority of India (AAI) came into existence on 1 April 1995. Currently, AAI manages 133 airports, of which 110 are operational, while the remaining 23 are non-operational.

♦ Chirag Chikkara won the gold medal at U23 World Wrestling in Tirana, Albania on 28 October 2024. He defeated Abdymalik Karachov of Kyrgyzstan in the men's freestyle 57kg category in the final. ♦ He is the second Indian man, after Paris Olympics bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat, to win gold at the U23 Championships. Sehrawat had achieved the feat in the same category in the 2022 edition. ♦ While Reetika Hooda had become the first Indian woman to bag a gold at the tournament when she won in the 76kg category last year (2023). ♦ Ravi Kumar Dahiya had also won a silver in the U23 World Championships in 2018.

C-295 military aircraft in India

♦ Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez inaugurated the Tata Advanced System Limited-Airbus facility to manufacture C-295 military aircraft in India on 28 October 2024. ♦ The facility in Gujarat’s Vadodara city is the first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft in India. ♦ A total of 56 aircraft are there under the C-295 programme, of which 16 are being delivered directly by Airbus from Spain and the remaining 40 are to be made in India. ♦ The C-295 aircraft will replace IAF's HS-748 Avro fleet and is the first instance of the private sector manufacturing a military aircraft in India, breaking the virtual monopoly of defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics. ♦ Modi had laid the foundation stone for the Vadodara final assembly line in October 2022.

ఏపీ హైకోర్టు అదనపు న్యాయమూర్తులుగా కుంచం మహేశ్వరరావు, తూట చంద్ర ధనశేఖర్, చల్లా గుణరంజన్‌ 2024, అక్టోబరు 28న ప్రమాణం చేశారు. హైకోర్టు ప్రధాన న్యాయమూర్తి (సీజే) జస్టిస్‌ ధీరజ్‌సింగ్‌ ఠాకుర్‌ వీరితో ప్రమాణం చేయించారు. ఏపీ హైకోర్టుకు ఆమోదిత మొత్తం న్యాయమూర్తుల సంఖ్య 37 (28 శాశ్వత, 9 అదనపు)గా ఉంది. ప్రస్తుతం హైకోర్టులో 26 మంది న్యాయమూర్తులు పనిచేస్తున్నారు. బాధ్యతలు స్వీకరించిన ముగ్గురితో న్యాయమూర్తుల సంఖ్య 29కి చేరింది.

ప్రపంచంలో మానవ, పారిశ్రామిక కార్యకలాపాలతో పాటు వృక్ష సంపద ఆహుతవ్వడం, శిలాజ ఇంధన పెరుగుదల లాంటి కారణాలతో గ్రీన్‌హౌస్‌ వాయు ఉద్గారాల స్థాయిలు 2023లో రికార్డు స్థాయిలో పెరిగాయని ప్రపంచ వాతావరణ సంస్థ (డబ్ల్యూఎంవో) నివేదిక పేర్కొంది. కేవలం రెండు దశాబ్దాల్లోనే గ్రీన్‌హౌస్‌ వాయువుల సాంద్రత 10 శాతానికి పైగా పెరిగినట్లు తెలిపింది. డబ్ల్యూఎంవోకు చెందిన వార్షిక గ్రీన్‌హౌస్‌ గ్యాస్‌ బులెటిన్‌ ప్రకారం 2004లో ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా కార్బన్‌ డైఆక్సైడ్‌ ఉపరితల సాంద్రత 377.1 పీపీఎం (పార్ట్స్‌ పర్‌ మిలియన్‌) ఉండగా అది 2023 నాటికి 420 పీపీఎంకు పెరిగినట్లు గ్లోబల్‌ అట్మాస్ఫియర్‌ వాచ్‌ నెట్‌వర్క్‌ ఆఫ్‌ మానిటరింగ్‌ స్టేషన్‌లు గుర్తించాయి.

దేశంలో సి-295 సైనిక రవాణా విమానాల ఉత్పత్తి కోసం గుజరాత్‌లోని వడోదరలో ఏర్పాటైన కర్మాగారాన్ని ప్రధాన మంత్రి నరేంద్ర మోదీ, స్పెయిన్‌ ప్రధాన మంత్రి పెడ్రో సాంచెజ్‌తో కలిసి 2024, అక్టోబరు 28న ప్రారంభించారు. ఇలాంటి కర్మాగారం ప్రైవేట్‌ భాగస్వామ్యంతో ఏర్పాటు కావడం మన దేశంలో ఇదే తొలిసారి. టాటా అడ్వాన్స్డ్‌ సిస్టమ్స్‌ లిమిటెడ్‌కు చెందిన ఈ కర్మాగారానికి 2022 అక్టోబరులో మోదీ శంకుస్థాపన చేశారు. సి-295కు సంబంధించిన భాగాల ఉత్పత్తి హైదరాబాద్‌లోని ‘మెయిన్‌ కన్‌స్టిట్యూయెంట్‌ అసెంబ్లీ’లో ఇప్పటికే ప్రారంభమైంది. వీటిని వడోదర యూనిట్‌కు రవాణా చేస్తారు. ఈ భాగాల తుది కూర్పు అక్కడే జరుగుతుంది.
