Bal Sahitya Awards

♦ The Sahitya Akademi presented its 2024 Bal Sahitya Awards in Lucknow on 14 November 2024, recognising 23 authors across various Indian languages for their significant contributions to children’s literature. ♦ Each awardee received a copper plaque and a cash prize of Rs.50,000. ♦ The awardees included Ranju Hazarika (Assamese), Dipanwita Roy (Bengali), Bharjin Jacob Mosahari (Bodo), Bishan Singh Dardi (Dogri), Gira Pinakin Bhatt (Gujarati), Krishnamurthy Biligeri (Kannada), Muzaffar Hussain Dilbar (Kashmiri), Harsha Sadguru Shetye (Konkani), Narayanji (Maithili), Unni Ammayambalam (Malayalam), Kshetrimayum Suvadani (Manipuri), Bharat Sasne (Marathi), Vasant Thapa (Nepali), Manas Ranjan Samal (Odia), Kuldeep Singh Deep (Punjabi), Prahlad Singh Jhora (Rajasthani), Harshdev Madhav (Sanskrit), Dugai Tudu (Santali), Yuma Vasuki (Tamil) and Pamidimukkala Chandrashekhar Azad (Telugu). ♦ The Bal Sahitya Akademi awards were started in 2010 by the Sahitya Akademi, which was formed in 1954 as India’s National Academy of Letters –“ a central institution for literary dialogue, publication and promotion in the country.

Tulsi Gabbard

♦ US President-elect Donald Trump named Tulsi Gabbard would serve as Director of National Intelligence (DNI) on 14 November 2024. ♦ With this announcement, she will be the first Hindu Congresswomen who will sit atop the US spy agencies and will act as Trump's intelligence advisor. ♦ She was a former Democrat and the first-ever Hindu elected to the US Congress. She sat between 2013 and 2021 as the Democratic representative for Hawaii.

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)

♦ Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully completed the Flight Tests of Guided Pinaka Weapon System on 14 November 2024. ♦ It conducted as part of Provisional Staff Qualitative Requirements (PSQR) Validation Trials. The flight tests have been conducted in three phases at different field firing ranges. ♦ Twelve  rockets from each production agency from two in-service Pinaka launchers upgraded by the launcher production agencies have been tested. ♦ The precision strike variant for Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System is a totally indigenous weapon system designed and developed by Armament Research and Development Establishment in association with Research Centre Imarat, Defence Research and Development Laboratory, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory and Proof & Experimental Establishment with Munitions India Limited and Economic Explosives Limited as production agencies for ammunition and Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Larsen & Toubro for Pinaka launcher and Battery Command Post.

S&P Global Ratings

♦ S&P Global Ratings projected the Indian economy to grow between 6.5-7 percent annually in the three fiscal years till March 2027. ♦ India’s infrastructure spending and private consumption will support robust economic growth said S&P Global Ratings in its latest global bank outlook report released on 14 November 2024.  ♦ According to the report, Indian banking sector’s weak loans will decline to about 3.0 percent of gross loans by March 31, 2025, “from our estimate of 3.5 percent as of March 31, 2024”. ♦ For the current fiscal, the Reserve Bank has projected economic growth to be 7.2 percent, lower than 8.2 percent in 2023-24.

International Trade Fair (IITF)

♦ Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal inaugurated the 43rd edition of the India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 14 November 2024.   ♦ The theme of this year’s fair is Viksit Bharat @ 2047. The fair emphasises innovation, sustainability, inclusivity, and good governance as essential pillars for economic growth and social development. ♦ IITF 2024 provides an unparalleled platform to showcase India’s export potential and drive meaningful dialogue among stakeholders committed to this ambitious vision. ♦ The focus state this year is Jharkhand, while Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are the partner states.  This year, 11 countries including China, Egypt, Iran, South Korea,Thailand, Turkey, and UAE are participating in this international fair.  ♦ This fair continue till  27th of November.

ఎస్‌ అండ్‌ పీ గ్లోబల్‌ రేటింగ్స్‌

భారతదేశ ఆర్థిక వృద్ధి మూడు ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరాల (2024-25, 2025-26, 2026-27) వరకు 6.5-7 శాతం వార్షిక వృద్ధిని నమోదు చేసే అవకాశం ఉందని ఎస్‌ అండ్‌ పీ గ్లోబల్‌ రేటింగ్స్‌ అంచనా వేసింది. మౌలిక సదుపాయాల కల్పనపై వ్యయాలు, ప్రైవేటు వినియోగం పెరుగుతుండటం వృద్ధికి ఊతమిస్తాయని పేర్కొంది. మంచి ఆర్థిక వృద్ధి బ్యాంకుల ఆస్తుల నాణ్యతకు మద్దతుగా నిలుస్తుందని వెల్లడించింది. ఆరోగ్యకర కార్పొరేట్‌ బ్యాలెన్స్‌ షీట్లు, మెరుగైన నష్ట నిర్వహణ చర్యలు ఆస్తుల నాణ్యతను మరింత స్థిరపరిచే అవకాశం ఉంటుందని తెలిపింది. ప్రస్తుత ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరం (2024-25)లో ఆర్థిక వృద్ధి 7.2 శాతం నమోదయ్యే అవకాశం ఉందని ఇటీవల రిజర్వ్‌ బ్యాంక్‌ ఆఫ్‌ ఇండియా (ఆర్‌బీఐ) అంచనా వేసింది. 2023-24లో 8.2 శాతం వృద్ధి నమోదైంది.

చంద్రశేఖర్‌ ఆజాద్‌కు బాలసాహిత్య పురస్కారం ప్రదానం

కేంద్ర సాహిత్య అకాడమీ 2024 సంవత్సరానికి ప్రకటించిన బాలసాహిత్య పురస్కారాన్ని తెలుగు రచయిత పమిడిముక్కల చంద్రశేఖర్‌ ఆజాద్‌ అందుకున్నారు. ఉత్తర్‌ప్రదేశ్‌ రాజధాని లఖ్‌నవూలో 2024, నవంబరు 14న నిర్వహించిన కార్యక్రమంలో అకాడమీఛైర్మన్‌ మాధవ్‌కౌశిక్‌ ఆయనకు ఈ అవార్డుతోపాటు రూ.50వేల నగదు బహుమతి, తామ్రపత్రం అందించి.. శాలువాతో సత్కరించారు.  చిన్నారుల జీవితాలపై ఆయన రాసిన మాయాలోకం నవలకు అకాడమీ ఈ పురస్కారాన్ని ప్రకటించింది. చంద్రశేఖర్‌ ఆజాద్‌ స్వస్థలం గుంటూరు జిల్లా. ఇప్పటివరకు 30 నవలలు, వందకు పైగా లఘుకథలు రాశారు. గతంలో నంది అవార్డు, కళారత్నహంస పురస్కారాలు పొందారు.

అమెరికా నిఘా విభాగాధిపతిగా తులసీ గబ్బార్డ్‌

అమెరికా అధ్యక్షుడిగా ఎన్నికైన డొనాల్డ్‌ ట్రంప్‌ ఆ దేశ నిఘా విభాగాధిపతిగా భారత సంతతికి చెందిన తులసీ గబ్బార్డ్‌ను 2024, నవంబరు 14న నామినేట్‌ చేశారు. ఆమెను నేషనల్‌ ఇంటెలిజెన్స్‌ డైరెక్టర్‌గా ప్రతిపాదించారు. ఈ నామినేషన్‌ ఖరారైతే.. జాతీయ భద్రతా ఏజెన్సీ (ఎన్‌ఎస్‌ఏ), సెంట్రల్‌ ఇంటెలిజెన్స్‌ ఏజెన్సీ (సీఐఏ)తో పాటు దాదాపు 18 యూఎస్‌ నిఘా సంస్థలు ఆమె పర్యవేక్షణలో ఉంటాయి.  తులసీ గబ్బార్డ్‌ గతంలో డెమోక్రటిక్‌ పార్టీ తరఫున నెగ్గి కాంగ్రెస్‌కు ఎన్నికైన తొలి హిందువుగా ఘనత సాధించారు. 2013 నుంచి 2021 వరకు కాంగ్రెస్‌లో సభ్యురాలిగా ఉన్నారు. అమెరికా సైన్యంలోనూ పనిచేశారు. 2022లో డెమోక్రటిక్‌ పార్టీని వీడారు. ఇటీవలి అధ్యక్ష ఎన్నికల సమయంలో ట్రంప్‌నకు మద్దతు పలికారు. ట్రంప్‌ 2025, జనవరి 20న అమెరికా అధ్యక్ష పగ్గాలు చేపట్టనున్నారు.

మోదీకి డొమినికా అత్యున్నత పురస్కారం

భారత ప్రధానమంత్రి నరేంద్రమోదీని కామన్వెల్త్‌ ఆఫ్‌ డొమినికా తమ దేశ అత్యున్నత జాతీయ అవార్డు ‘డొమినికా అవార్డ్‌ ఆఫ్‌ ఆనర్‌’తో సత్కరించనుంది. ఈ విషయాన్ని ఆ దేశ ప్రభుత్వం 2024, నవంబరు 14న తెలిపింది. కొవిడ్‌ సమయంలో డొమినికాకు భారత్‌ అందించిన సహకారాన్ని గుర్తిస్తూ ఈ పురస్కారాన్ని అందజేయనున్నట్లు తెలిపింది. నవంబరు మూడోవారంలో గయానాలో జరిగే ది కరేబియన్‌ కమ్యూనిటీ అండ్‌ కామన్‌ మార్కెట్‌ సదస్సులో ఆ అవార్డును ప్రదానం చేయనున్నట్లు వెల్లడించింది.

పినాక ఆయుధ పరీక్ష విజయవంతం

రక్షణ పరిశోధన- అభివృద్ధి సంస్థ (డీఆర్‌డీవో) పినాక గైడెడ్‌ ఆయుధ వ్యవస్థల్ని 2024, నవంబరు 14న విజయవంతంగా పరీక్షించింది. సైన్యంలోకి ప్రవేశపెట్టడానికి ముందు మరోసారి పరీక్షను నిర్వహించారు. అవి చేరగలిగే దూరం, కచ్చితత్వం వంటి వేర్వేరు అంశాలను దీని ద్వారా మదించారు. భిన్న ప్రదేశాల నుంచి మూడు దశల్లో ఈ పరీక్షలు నిర్వహించినట్లు రక్షణశాఖ తెలిపింది. రెండు లాంఛర్ల నుంచి 12 చొప్పున రాకెట్లను దీనికోసం వాడినట్లు వెల్లడించింది.
