Coal production in 2023-24

♦ The all-India coal production in 2023-24 was 997.826 Million tonnes (MT), this is the highest-ever coal production in comparison to 893.191 MT in the year 2022-23 with a growth of about 11.71%. ♦ During Calendar Year 2024 (upto 15th December, 2024 from January 2024), the country has produced about 988.32 MT(Provisional) of coal as compared to about 918.02 MT (Provisional) coal during the same period of last year with a growth of about 7.66%. ♦ The Ministry of Coal said, domestic raw Coking Coal production is likely to reach 140 MT in next five years. It said, the total domestic raw coking coal production during the financial year 2023-24 is 66.821 million tonnes.

Parker Solar Probe

♦ NASA's Parker Solar Probe made its record-setting close approach of just 6.1 million kilometers (3.8 million miles) from the solar surface on 24 December 2024. ♦ NASA confirmed on December 27 that its Parker Solar Probe is “safe” after becoming the first human-made object in history to fly dangerously close to the Sun. ♦ Parker Solar Probe was traveling at a staggering speed of approximately 700,000 kilometers per hour (430,000 miles per hour), making it the fastest human-made object in history. ♦ Parker Solar Probe was launched in 2018. The probe has completed 21 close approaches to the Sun so far, with the most recent perihelion occurring on 30 September 2024. ♦ Additionally, the spacecraft used Venus’ gravity to refine its trajectory for the close solar flybys. ♦ On November 6, Parker executed its seventh and final gravity-assist maneuver, passing just 387 kilometers above Venus’ surface to set up its record-breaking solar approach.

పార్కర్‌ సోలార్‌ ప్రోబ్‌

అమెరికా అంతరిక్ష పరిశోధన సంస్థ-నాసాకు చెందిన ‘పార్కర్‌ సోలార్‌ ప్రోబ్‌’ వ్యోమనౌక సరికొత్త భగభగ మండే సూర్యుడికి అత్యంత చేరువగా వెళ్లి, అక్కడి నుంచి సురక్షితంగా వెలుపలికి వచ్చింది. తద్వారా ఈ ఘనత సాధించిన తొలి వ్యోమనౌకగా రికార్డు సృష్టించింది. సూర్యుడిపై పరిశోధనల కోసం పార్కర్‌ సోలార్‌ ప్రోబ్‌ను 2018లో నాసా ప్రయోగించింది. అంతరిక్ష వాతావరణం, సౌర తుపాన్లు, సౌర జ్వాలల గురించి లోతుగా తెలుసుకోవడం ఈ ప్రయోగ ఉద్దేశం. ఏడేళ్లు పనిచేసేలా ఈ వ్యోమనౌకను రూపొందించారు. పార్కర్‌ సోలార్‌ ప్రోబ్‌ 21 సార్లు సూర్యుడికి చేరువగా వెళ్లింది. తొలిసారి 2021 ఏప్రిల్‌ 28న కరోనాలోకి ప్రవేశించింది. డిసెంబరు 24న మాత్రం ఇంతకుముందున్నెడూ లేనంత దగ్గరగా వెళ్లింది. సూర్యుడికి భూమికి మధ్య దూరం ఒక మీటరు అని భావిస్తే, పార్కర్‌ సోలార్‌ ప్రోబ్‌.. సూర్యుడికి 4 సెంటీమీటర్ల మేర చేరువగా వెళ్లింది. ఈ వ్యోమనౌక 2025, మార్చి 22న, జూన్‌ 19న సూర్యుడికి ఇంతే చేరువగా వెళ్లి వస్తుంది.
