Discussions covered a broad range of geopolitical issues. ♦ The dialogue provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on regional and global matters, including developments in the Indo-Pacific region, the functioning of multilateral institutions, and priorities of the Global South.
♦ The Union Government on 3 March 2025, approved the upgradation of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) as the country’s 25th and 26th Navratna companies respectively. ♦ IRCTC is a Ministry of Railways Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) with an annual turnover of Rs.4,270.18 crore, PAT of Rs.1,111.26 crore and a net worth of Rs.3,229.97 crore for FY 2023-24. ♦ IRFC is a Ministry of Railways CPSE with an annual turnover of Rs.26,644 crore, PAT of Rs.6,412 crore and a net worth of Rs.49,178 crore for FY 2023-24. ♦ What is ‘Navratna’ status? ♦ Navratna status is conferred upon public sector undertakings that demonstrate outstanding financial and market performance. ♦ This recognition enhances their autonomy and financial authority. A key advantage of this status is that the companies can invest up to Rs.1,000 crore or 15 percent of their net worth in a single project without needing prior approval from the central government.
దేశంలో కేవలం రెండు దశాబ్దాల్లో ప్రైవేట్‌ విశ్వవిద్యాలయాల సంఖ్య.. రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వాల నిర్వహణలోని వర్సిటీల సంఖ్యను దాటిపోయిందని నీతి ఆయోగ్‌ నివేదిక వెల్లడించింది. ప్రైవేట్‌ వర్సిటీలను 1995లో నెలకొల్పడం ప్రారంభమైంది. ఇప్పుడు వాటి సంఖ్య 502కు చేరగా, రాష్ట్ర విశ్వవిద్యాలయాలు 496 ఉన్నాయి. 2017-2022 మధ్య ప్రైవేట్‌వి 51% పెరిగాయి. కొత్త విశ్వవిద్యాలయాల ఏర్పాటుపై నీతి ఆయోగ్‌ ఈ నివేదికను తయారు చేసింది. నివేదికలోని అంశాలు: దేశంలో ఇప్పటికీ ఒక్క వర్సిటీ కూడా లేని జిల్లాలు 380 ఉన్నాయి. అలాంటి జిల్లాలు అత్యధికంగా యూపీ, మధ్యప్రదేశ్, ఈశాన్య రాష్ట్రాల్లో ఉన్నట్లు నివేదిక తెలిపింది. 2035 నాటికి జాతీయ నూతన విద్యా విధానం లక్ష్యమైన 50% స్థూల నమోదు నిష్పత్తి(గ్రాస్‌ ఎన్‌రోల్‌మెంట్‌ రేషియో- జీఈఆర్‌) సాధించాలంటే ఇప్పుడున్న విశ్వవిద్యాలయాల సంఖ్యను రెట్టింపు చేయాల్సి ఉంటుందని సూచించింది. కేంద్ర పాలిత ప్రాంతాలైన లక్షద్వీప్, దాద్రానగర్‌ హవేలీలలో ఉన్నత విద్యను అందించే కళాశాలలున్నా వర్సిటీ మాత్రం ఒక్కటీ లేదు.
