♦ Center-left opposition candidate Yamandu Orsi secured victory in Uruguay's presidential election.
♦ His election marks a shift away from five years of conservative governance. Orsi got 49.81 percentage of the vote to conservative Alvaro Delgado's 45.90 percent.
♦ According to the Electoral Court of the country, out of the 94.4 percent of ballots counted, Orsi secured 1,123,420 votes, narrowly defeating Delgado, who garnered 1,042,001 votes.
