World Soil Day (WSD) is observed every year on December 5 to highlight the significance of maintaining healthy soil and advocate for the sustainable management of soil resources. The International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) recommended establishing an international day for celebrating soil in 2002. The UN General Assembly officially designated World Soil Day on December 5, 2014.
