♦ Vivek Chaturvedi was appointed as the Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on 29 November 2025. He is a 1990-batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer and member of the CBIC.  

♦ He succeeds Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, a 1988-batch IRS officer, who completed his tenure and retired on November 28, 2025.

♦ Before becoming a member of the CBIC, Chaturvedi served as Principal Director General of Vigilance and Chief Vigilance Officer in the organisation.
