♦ President Droupadi Murmu on 21 December 2025 gave her assent to the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G Ram G) Bill. It replaces the erstwhile Congress-led government’s flagship Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), which initially guaranteed at least 100 days of employment..

♦ The new Act brings structural changes to the rural job scheme while increasing the number of guaranteed days of work from 100 to 125 days. 

♦ The Centre has said the intent of the bill is to ensure that public funds are spent efficiently, with greater transparency and accountability.
