♦ Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train between Howrah-Guwahati (Kamakhya) from Malda Town Railway Station on 17 January 2026.

♦ The train reduces travel time on the Howrah–Guwahati route by almost 2.5 hours. The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is developed to meet the growing transportation needs of modern India.
