♦ This day was first established in 1954. The date 20 November marks the day on which the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, in 1959, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, in 1989.
♦ In India, Children's Day is observed on November 14 to honor India's First PM Jawaharlal Nehru's commitment to children's well-being.
