♦ The number of annual consequential train accidents dropping sharply from an average of 171 between 2004 and 2014 to 31 in 2024–25 and just 11 so far in 2025–26. The update was shared in the Rajya Sabha by Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on 12 December 2025.

♦ The Ministry said all sabotage-related cases reported in 2023 and 2024 were registered by state police and GRP units, followed by arrests and prosecution. 

♦ Over the same period, investment in safety-related activities has nearly tripled — from Rs.39,463 crore in 2013–14 to Rs.1,16,470 crore this year (2025).
