♦ USA President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Tom Homan will take on the role of 'border czar' in his administration on 11 November 2024.

♦ This position does not require Senate confirmation, easing Homan’s transition into the role. Tom Homan was former acting head of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). 

♦ Homan served as the public face of the first Trump administration’s aggressive efforts to step up immigration enforcement before retiring in 2018.
