The United States has announced a major immigration clampdown that affects citizens from 75 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America. Starting January 21, US embassies and consulates will indefinitely pause immigrant visa processing for these nations. Somalia, Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, Brazil, Nigeria, Thailand, Pakistan and Bangladesh are among the countries impacted by the new move. India has been excluded from the list of 75 countries facing the immigrant visa suspension.
♦ The decision effectively closes the door to new travel to the United States for over a third of the nearly 200 countries worldwide.
