♦ Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated India’s first glass bridge over the sea on 30 December 2024, connecting the Thiruvalluvar Statue and Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari. Constructed at 37 crores, the 77 metres bridge was inaugurated as part of silver jubilee celebration of the Tiruvalluvar statue, now renamed as statue of Wisdom by the state government.

♦ The statue was unveiled on 1 January 2000, by the then Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Designed by renowned sculptor V. Ganapathi Sthapathi, the statue stands at a combined height of 133 feet, which denotes the 133 chapters of Tirukkural.
