♦ Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) released a report, titled “Trends in World Military Expenditure 2024”, on 28 April 2025.
♦ According ti this India's military spending in 2024 was almost nine times higher than Pakistan's.
♦ India spent $86.1 billion on its military in 2024. That's a 1.6 percent rise compared to 2023.
♦ In contrast, Pakistan's military budget stood at $10.2 billion.
♦ India is now the fifth-largest military spender in the world.
♦ The top five — the United States ($997 billion), China ($314 billion), Russia ($149 billion), Germany ($88.5 billion), and India — together accounted for 60 pecent of global defence spending, with a combined total of $1635 billion.
♦ Global military expenditure reached $ 2,718 billion in 2024, an increase of 9.4 percent in real terms from 2023.
