♦ Former governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Shaktikanta Das was appointed as the second Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22 February 2025.
♦ He is a 1980-batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer.
♦ He was the economic affairs secretary when the government scrapped high-value currency notes in November 2016.
♦ He has also previously served as the finance secretary and a member of the 15th Finance Commission before moving to the RBI.
♦ Shaktikanta became the RBI governor in 2018 after Urjit Patel abruptly resigned. He retired in 2024, December after serving as RBI governor for six years.
