♦ Government headhunter Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended B Sairam as the next Chairman of coal behemoth CIL on 20 September 2025.

♦ Currently, he is the Chairman & Managing Director of Northern Coalfields (NCL).

♦ NCL is a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL).

♦ Currently, P M Prasad is holding the position of Chairman and Managing Director in CIL.

♦ His tenure is ending on 31 October 2025.

♦ Coal India which accounts for over 80 percent of domestic coal output is targeting coal production of 875 million tonnes in 2025-26, with a dispatch target of 900 MT, to meet rising energy demands.
