♦ Coal India Limited (CIL) Chairman-cum-Managing Director B. Sairam was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.

♦ His tenure will run from the date he assumes charge of the post until his superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

♦ Coal India is India’s largest coal producer and plays a critical role in meeting the country’s energy requirements, particularly for the power sector.

♦ Before taking over as CMD of Coal India, Sairam served as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of CIL.

♦ Earlier, he was Director (Technical) at Ranchi-based Central Coalfields Limited, where he played key roles in coal logistics development.
