♦Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has assumed charge as Chairperson of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) on 27 March 2026. She is a former Member of Parliament and has held several important public offices, including serving as Union Minister of State in the Ministries of Rural Development and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. 

♦ She belongs to the Nishad community (OBC), served as a Union minister from 2014 to 2024.

♦ A native of Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district in the Bundelkhand belt, Jyoti is known as a staunch Hindutva proponent. She was elected as a Member of Parliament from Fatehpur in 2014 and 2019. 

♦ Kiran Umesh Mahalle has assumed charge as Member of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC). She has served as Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Amravati, and has held various important positions in public life.
