♦ Cameroon’s President Paul Biya was re-elected as the head of state for an eighth successive term, the country’s Constitutional Council announced the official results on 27 October 2025.

♦ Biya (92 years) took office in 1982 and has held a tight grip on power ever since, doing away with the presidential term limit in 2008 and winning reelection by comfortable margins.

♦ Paul Biya had secured 53.66 percent of the vote in the October 12 election.

♦ Opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma received 35.19 percent.

♦ A new seven-year term could keep the world’s longest-serving ruler in power until he is nearly 100 years old.
