♦ Padma Shri D. Ramaiah, popularly known as the Tree Man of Telangana, passed away in Reddy Palli, in Khammam on 12 April 2025.

♦ He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2017 for his exceptional contribution to environmental protection.

♦ He planted over one crore saplings during his lifetime and was deeply committed to raising awareness about the importance of trees.

♦ Recently, the Telangana government included his life story in the Class 6 curriculum to inspire young students.
