National Science Day

National Science Day is celebrated every year on February 28 to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect.

The Government of India chose February 28 as National Science Day in 1986 because, on this day, CV Raman announced the discovery of the 'Raman Effect'.

For this discovery, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930.

The first National Science Day celebration took place on February 28, 1987.
