♦ A draft Bill was sent to the Constituent Assembly (Legislative) on 19 March 1948, which evoked great interest and enthusiasm amongst all members.

♦ After due deliberations and amendments, the Bill was passed by the Assembly on 8 April 1948.

♦ The date for NCC Day was chosen because the first NCC units were raised in Delhi on that day in 1948, making it the day the modern NCC is considered to have been born.
