♦ Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met Guyana President Mohamed Irfaan Ali in Georgetown on 20 November 2024. India and Guyana signed 10 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) during Modi’s visit.
♦ Key agreements include an MoU on Cooperation in the Hydrocarbons Sector, focusing on joint efforts in crude sourcing, natural gas collaboration, Bilateral Cooperation in Agriculture and Allied Sectors and infrastructure development.
♦ This partnership also aims to enhance capacity building and expertise sharing across the hydrocarbon value chain.
♦ This is the first visit by an Indian head of the state to the country in more than 50 years.
