♦ India retained the Men’s T20 World Cup title with a commanding 96-run victory over New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 8 March 2026. It became the first team to defend the trophy and the first to win the tournament three times (2007, 2024, 2026).  

♦ India piled up 255/5 — the highest total ever in a T20 World Cup final — before bundling out New Zealand for 159 in 19 overs.

♦ Sanju Samson was declared the Player of the Tournament. ended the tournament with 321 runs from five innings and was India’s highest scorer. He becomes just the third Indian to win the award after Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.

♦ The champions will take home $3 million, which translates to approximately INR 27.48 crore, from the tournament’s prize pool. The runners up, New Zealand, will receive $1.6 million, around INR 14.65 crore.

♦ The two losing semi finalists, South Africa national cricket team and England national cricket team, will each receive $790,000, which is about INR 7.24 crore.
