♦ Maia Sandu (52) was sworn in for her second term as President of the Republic of Moldova on 24 December 2024.
♦ She won the Moldovan presidential elections for the first time in 2020 and was re-elected in a runoff in November, 2024.
♦ She got 55.33% of the vote against her opponent, Alexandr Stoianoglo, who received 44.67% in the recent elections.
♦ Sandu made history as the first woman to hold the presidency in Moldova.
