♦ Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology , Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated TDK Corporation’s lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant at Sohna in Haryana on 4 September 2025, calling it a “major milestone” in India’s electronics journey.
♦ The facility, set up under the Centre’s Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) scheme, will produce around 20 crore battery packs annually — nearly 40 percent of the country’s requirement — and create 5,000 direct jobs.
♦ The batteries will cater to mobile phones, laptops, smartwatches, earbuds and other consumer devices.
♦ TDK Corporation operates more than 250 manufacturing, R&D and sales sites across 30 countries.
