♦ India has opened a new consulate building in Shanghai, marking a sign of strengthening economic and people-to-people engagement with China. The new premises of the Consulate were inaugurated by India’s Ambassador to China, Pradeep Kumar Rawat, along with Consul General Pratik Mathur, marking the consulate’s first move in 32 years. 

♦ The new office, located in the Dawning Centre in Shanghai’s Changning district, is larger and more modern. It is expected to improve services and strengthen India’s engagement in the region.  

♦ Consul Generals from 30 countries and over 500 members of the Indian community attended the opening event.
